Bank of America intent to foreclose and foreclosure process. HAMP loan modification scam

Bank of America intent to foreclose and foreclosure process. HAMP loan modification scam

This post is to inform you all how much bank of america sucks and if you’re trying to do a loan modification through them, known as HAMP loan modification, please don’t waste your time! The Bank of America foreclosure process is always against you.

This post isn’t written out of anger (well part of it is), but, more importantly, to inform you what I have learned. I have read hundreds of bank of america reviews and stories from homeowners that bank of america (BOA) has put through hell and back.

Bank of America is nothing short of evil. Back in the 2007 housing crisis, recession, BOA was failing and crashing. The government didn’t want bank of america to fail since it would disrupt the economy, so they gave BOA 5 billion in funds to help bail out their mortgage loans. This money was supposed to be given to BOA’s homeowners to help lower their monthly payments via loan modification known as HAMP loan modification.

The HAMP loan modification is nothing more than a scam by bank of america. THIS IS FACT! Bank of America took the 5 billion and never helped anyone to save their home!

BOA kept the 5 billion and setup the fake HAMP loan modification scam.

Here’s what Bank of America says you need to do to get approved for the HAMP modification:

  1. You must miss 2 mortgage payments to show a hardship (ridiculous)
  2. You must fill out a mound of paperwork and mail back to them
  3. You must report to your modification rep
  4. You will be notified if approved and a lower mortgage rate is given

While you miss 2 monthly mortgage payments, they are starting the foreclosure paperwork since you missed 2 monthly payments! THEY WANT YOUR HOUSE!

All the paperwork you fill out, all the pay stubs you copy and all the tax records you submit are either “lost” by them or they claim you didn’t fill it out properly. This adds at least another month of stress and more paperwork for you. Meanwhile, you’re 2 months late on your mortgage, approaching 3 months late on your BOA mortgage!

THIS IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET! Do a search for BANK OF AMERICA SUCKS!

The rep you are assigned will never take your calls and never return your voice mails.

You are stuck doing paperwork for weeks that will never be seen. Bank of America is doing nothing more than stalling in order to force you into foreclosure.

If you are lucky enough to speak to someone about your situation, you will find out you will either need to submit the paperwork a third time or you weren’t approved. Now you’re 2 months or 3 months late and must pay that back within a month or you’re screwed! If you do not pay the money you are behind within a month they send a letter of intent to foreclose.

How do I know all this? I went through it and am still battling Bank of America now. I have also read for hours all the Bank of America horror stories from thousands of other homeowners.

What can you do?

If you file for bankruptcy (chapter 7), your debts will be wiped out including your home. The bank cannot come after you for the balance of the loan. You are not responsible for the balance of your mortgage if you file chapter 7 bankruptcy. In fact, the bank will stop reporting your monthly payments on your credit report. This is good if you decide to walk away from the mortgage due to foreclosure. The foreclosure will not be reported on your credit report if you file chapter 7 bankruptcy before foreclosure.

I know you may not want to file for bankruptcy but it’s a fast easy process and your debts will be gone. You can stay in your home with bankruptcy as long as you continue to make your monthly payments.

If the bank wants you to reaffirm your mortgage, this puts you back into being responsible for the mortgage even though you filed for bankruptcy. This also includes refinancing the loan. Once you file for chapter 7 bankruptcy it’s important to NEVER sign anything from the bank that may hold you responsible for the loan moving forward, erasing your bankruptcy protection.

If you receive an intent to foreclose from the bank it is highly recommended you get a foreclosure attorney. Get a GREAT foreclosure attorney. They can fight the bank every step of the way and keep you in your house RENT FREE for months. You can then save all the money you would be paying towards your mortgage every month for another home with another bank.

Once you file bankruptcy, if you go that route, get a small credit card after a few months just to help build your credit. Use the 2 years in your home to save all that money before moving out.

I received a letter of intent to foreclose from Bank of America through no fault of my own! I missed the 2 months mortgage payments to show hardship and don’t you know it…they lost my paperwork. The second time they said I didn’t fill everything out in full. I know this is a lie. I filled EVERYTHING OUT!

The third time, 2 years later, Bank of America had a clerical error and didn’t apply my monthly mortgage payment properly. They said it was their fault and apologized but unfortunately their mistake triggered the intent to foreclose letter. They said there is nothing they can do to stop it! REALLY?! They admitted their error that caused this mess and they can’t stop it.

THEY WANT THE HOUSE and WILL NEVER WORK WITH ME. I have fought them for years for help, always to be refused.

Bank of America wants houses. They want your house. If they take your house, they are reimbursed by the government for it. Bank of America gets paid to collect houses. Bank of America loses no money.

I am not an attorney. Do your research. I wanted to spread the word on Bank of America like so many other homeowners have online.

I’m not sure if I want to find another lender to refinance with or let the house go into foreclosure.

Find yourself a good foreclosure attorney. They can help you to stay in your home for free until the foreclosure process is over. Most banks, especially Bank of America are incredibly disorganized and they rely on your fear of losing your home.

This is all true. Protect yourself and don’t let Bank of America win. They have been sued big time by mass class action suits for this HAMP loan modification scam.

When I call Bank of America they always record everything you say. I make it a point to say I know this is a scam and I know what you are doing is wrong. I mention the class action lawsuits and bring up every time their clerical errors they admitted to. Whether the BOA rep cares or not, you are on audio stating your facts.

Bank of America has foreclosed on the wrong homes in the past as well. They have bad records and very bad business practices. In fact, many Bank of America employees have been fired because they have morals and refuse to lie to customers. If you don’t follow what Bank of America tells you to do, you’re fired.

All these are facts. Look it up and protect yourself!

How to use airdrop on iphone and iPad

How to use airdrop on iphone and iPad

Use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

With AirDrop, you can instantly share your photos, videos, documents, and more with other Apple devices that are nearby.

I use AirDrop on a daily basis when filming video for our YouTube channels. We use iPhones and iPads a lot of the times to film and share content between all our devices for video editing.

Use the AirDrop feature in your iPhone or iPad to share and receive content, like photos and documents, with other Apple devices that are nearby.

Before you begin

Before you begin, check the following:

  • Make sure the person you’re sending to is nearby within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range.
  • Check that you and the person you’re sending to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you have Personal Hotspot on, turn it off.
  • Check if the person you’re sending to has their AirDrop set to receive from Contacts Only. If they do, and you’re in their Contacts, they need to have your email address or mobile number in your contact card for AirDrop to work.
  • If you’re not in their Contacts, have them set their AirDrop receiving setting to Everyone in order to receive the file.

You can put your AirDrop receiving setting to Contacts Only or Receiving Off at any time to control who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.

A photo selected for AirDrop

Share content with AirDrop

Use AirDrop to share content from apps like Photos, Safari, Contacts, and more. Here’s how:

  1. Open an app, tap Share or  Share icon. If you share a photo from the Photos app, you can swipe left or right and select multiple photos.
  2. Tap the AirDrop user that you want to share content with. Or you can AirDrop content between your own Apple devices. Don’t see the AirDrop user or your other device? Learn what to do.

iPhone screen showing a request to Accept or Decline an AirDrop photo

Receive content with AirDrop

When someone shares content with you using AirDrop, you see an alert with a preview of the content and you can tap Accept or Decline.

If you tap Accept, you get the content in the app it was sent from. For example, photos appear in the Photos app and websites open in Safari. App links open in the App Store so you can download or purchase the app.

If you AirDrop content to yourself, like share a photo from your iPhone to your Mac, you won’t see an option to Accept or Decline. The content is automatically sent to that device. Just make sure that both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.

Choose who can send you content in AirDrop

You can also limit who is able to see your phone with airdrop. You can allow or disallow who is able to send to your phone.

Choose who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.

Go to Settings > General > AirDrop.

How to trade stocks for beginners – using common sense

How to trade stocks for beginners – using common sense

I wanted to talk about how to trade stocks if you are thinking of starting this endeavor and how to go about trading stocks. Trading stocks sounds scary, right? YES IT CAN BE!

Let me start by saying I am not here to sell you anything. I’m not here to sell you a book on how to trade stocks. I’m definitely not here to get you to join a secret stock club where they tip you off on the NEXT BIG STOCK DEAL.

Nope, my intention is to just talk to you about common sense and the stock market and what it’s all about. From there you can can make your own decision on whether you would like to enter this world of “classy gambling.” That’s all stock trading really is.

If you decide to enter the stock market, that’s on you. It should ALWAYS BE ON YOU!

NEVER LISTEN TO ANYONE REGARDING STOCK ADVICE! No one knows what the stock market will do! IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW. Get this in your head and keep it there!

Chicago Board of Trade stock exchange 1800s
Chicago Board of Trade stock exchange 1800s

I’ve always been interested in the stock market as a little kid. My uncle sat me down at an early age and told me about IRA accounts and trading stocks. It was kind of interesting but it wasn’t something I could do anyway. One thing I remember him saying is to stay away from penny stocks and he was right!

A penny stock is a share trading for anything under $5. This can also go as low as fractions of a penny! I have just told you to NEVER trade penny stocks. That’s a warning not only from me but from the greatest stock traders of all time, meaning, people who knew the business from YEARS AGO.

I’m sure you know how stock trading works. You buy a share of stock that is worth, say, $10 a share. If the next day the price goes up to $11 and you sell it, you make $1. That’s the basics.

Keep in mind that you’re charged an average of $7 per trade (regardless of the amount of shares you buy or sell.) You are charged $7 for the purchase and $7 again for the sell. In order to break even, your one share would need to be at a price of $24 to cover your $17 commission fee and your initial $10 purchase. GET IT? Let’s move on.

In order to make more money you need to spend more money. One share purchase will not make you money. If you had $1,000 to spend, you could buy 100 shares of that $10 stock. If the price goes to $11, you make $1 per share, which would be $100 profit, minus your $14 fee for round trip purchase of the shares. So your profit would be $86.

Not bad if it goes up $1. What if it drops by $5 a share because the CEO of the company was involved in fraud or something bad. Well, the product they manufacture may be doing GREAT but traders panic and start to sell because they think everyone else is going to sell. This is known as PANIC SELLING! So now your $1,000 account is worth $500.

Will you panic and sell or stay in the game? You don’t lose money until you actually SELL your shares. I would stay in because stocks will go up in time. They go up and down. Some people see this as an opportunity to buy the shares at 50% off. I would buy shares at this time and take advantage of this mass dip in price. It will go up again, unless the company goes bankrupt or something. Anything can happen.

Here’s a video I made on HOW TO TRADE STOCKS FOR BEGINNERS

My point to you is no one can predict the price or the company’s profits or losses. NO ONE should be giving you stock advice and no one should be charging you a monthly membership fee to join a secret club that will provide you with the NEXT GREAT STOCK to buy. My advice to you, no matter how tempting, is to steer clear of anyone wanting you to join their club for a fee. In turn, they will provide you with their stock picks. This is total BS! Again, do what you want.

How can someone tell you without a doubt, that the coin flipped will land on heads or tails? They can’t! No one can do that.

The only time someone may get a stock tip is from an insider working at the company you’re thinking of buying stock in. They may talk it up to get people to buy. You think they’re trying to give tips but really, they know the press will get wind of their company’s wrong-doings and once that happens, their stock price will plummet! They’re trying to sell their stock at the going price before the media gets wind of it. They don’t want to be caught holding the bag. This happens a lot!

Chicago board of trade also known as CBOTI used to work at the Chicago Board of Trade on the trading floor as a computer tech to the floor. What an amazing experience that was! I’m honored to have been such a large part of Chicago History, which I LOVE! It was also very stressful to say the least. Unfortunately the Chicago Board of Trade is now owned by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME.) I worked there as well.

One of the most beloved buildings in Chicago sits at the southern end of the LaSalle Street canyon. The imposing Art Deco Chicago Board of Trade Building is on the same site as an earlier Chicago (1800S.)

Some of the richest people on the CBOT trading floor were younger guys in jeans and sneakers. The older guys in suits you would expect to be rich, but some of them were the poorest.

Have you ever been gambling before? Maybe it’s poker or maybe it’s the horse track. You’re up $89 and you tell yourself you’ll stop at $100. Well, now you’re at $105. Do you stop? Most people will not stop. They then say, ok, I’ll stop at $125.

The stopping number never comes. Anything that goes up must come down. They start to lose their winnings and are now at $15. That $89 looks pretty good now doesn’t it? Well, it’s gone. Now you’re chasing to try and get it back with SCARED MONEY. That’s what they call money you either can’t afford to lose or are frantically trying to get back.

Never trade stocks with scared money and never trade with emotion.

I have lost money in the stock market because I knew it would go higher. It had to go higher. There were so many people buying that day, setting the stock price to the moon, as they say. Yeah right. As soon as most stock traders made profits, they all started to sell and the stock price dropped like crazy. I lost my profits and half my account. It can take a very long time to get that money back, if you can at all. IT’S GAMBLING!

I no longer trade like that. I decide what price I want to buy at and when the stock gets there, I purchase my shares. Before buying the shares I know what I want to sell them for in order to make a small profit of 5% roughly, and also what I need to sell the shares for to cover the $14 fee.

That’s the basics of trading stocks. It may take days or weeks for your prices to come but if you wait, it will happen…unless something bad happens within the company.

Most penny stocks are fake companies. These are known as pump and dump scams. I got burned so many times for buy shares at 0.01 each, thinking that when they reach $1 at least in price, I will make 100X my investment. It never happened that way and I lost money each time. Sure, there were times I got really lucky and made $200 in less than a minute. I was in the right place at the right time. I bought low and it skyrocketed so I sold 5 minutes later. I DO NOT recommend penny stock trading to anyone.

DO NOT signup for mailing lists promising you the next great stock pick. This is so ridiculous! No one knows what the next stock will be. All you can do is watch the news and see what is happening in the world. This will impact the price of stocks.

Also, pick a stock that interests you. If you’re into technology like me, find out what Apple stock is going for and buy that if you can. Maybe it’s AMD or INTEL processors. Maybe you like agriculture or Gold or silver. Amazon used to trade low but is now passed $1,000 a share!

If you want to read further on trading stocks, check out books on Amazon. Find ones that resonate with you and that have great reviews. Read a few at least, to get different perspectives. GOOD LUCK!

How to get data off bad hard drive with usb hard drive dock. Geek Squad SUCKS

How to get data off bad hard drive with usb hard drive dock. Geek Squad SUCKS

If your computer or laptop won’t boot, don’t panic, you may be able to recover your photos and documents from the bad hard drive.

DON’T USE GEEK SQUAD EVER! THEY SUCK!

There are many reasons why your microsoft computer or apple computer (imac, mac mini or macbook) won’t start up or boot. One reason is a bad hard drive. Whether it’s hardware or software related, you more than likely find yourself replacing the bad hard drive with a new one and reloading the operating system or OS.

Where do you store your data such as photos, videos, music or documents? If you’re like most computer users, you store all your data on your computer’s hard drive. If that hard drive dies, you can lose all your data!

This is why it’s best to either save data to an external hard drive such as a thumb drive or external usb hard drive. You also need to have an identical drive with the same data as duplicate in case that hard drive fails. ALWAYS have a backup of your data!

I’ve been a computer tech for 25 years and as much as I’ve said DON’T SAVE DATA TO YOUR MAIN HARD DRIVE, people still do it! THEN when their hard drive fails for good us technicians are expected to resurrect the dead. We don’t do magic. We warned you.

You have a couple options in getting your data back from a bad hard drive. You either spend hundreds or thousand of dollars to have a clean room retrieve the data for you, or you can try a couple things on your own.

If the hard drive is truly dead, mechanical-wise (hardware) then this post will not help you much. If your hard drive is getting power but just isn’t booting up, then this post will more than likely save your data.

The idea is to power up a laptop or computer that is working and connect a usb hard drive dock to it. Here are the steps:

  1. Connect a usb hard drive dock to working computer
  2. plug your bad hard drive into the usb hard drive dock
  3. The bad hard drive will show up as a hard drive on your working computer, just like a usb thumb drive does
  4. Create a folder on your computer and call it DATA. This is where the data from your bad hard drive will be saved onto your working computer
  5. Double click on the bad hard drive and right-click / copy the data you want to transfer to your working computer
  6. Go to the DATA folder you created and right click and select PASTE. This will paste the data from the bad hard drive to your working computer

Bank of America SUCKS – HAMP Loan modification scam!

Bank of America SUCKS – HAMP Loan modification scam!

This post raises awareness on Bank of America’s HAMP scam. BOA has a loan modification to help keep you in your home. THIS IS A BANK OF AMERICA SCAM!

Most of you reading this post know why Bank of America sucks! I’m sure you have your story to tell and I urge you to write in the comments below to spread the word.

Bank of America has been on a mission to kick its customers out of their homes since the recession. This is fact! It’s all about money. They get paid whether you live there or not.

This post on why Bank of America sucks is not due to just one incident, oh no! There are MANY I can talk about. The financial industry is filled with corrupt practices but no other bank or financial institution comes even close to Bank of America!

Former BOA employees have confirmed that Bank of America instructed its employees to delay modifications by claiming that it had not received paperwork and payments when it had, indeed, received them. Former employees were also instructed to decline modifications en masse in periods known internally as “blitzes.”

Bank of America employees who questioned the ethics of declining modifications for fraudulent reasons, or of lying to customers, were subject to discipline including termination.

Why is Bank of America so eager to scam you out of your home? Because BOA is backed by the government. You pay mortgage insurance every month in your loan. If you lose the house to foreclosure, BOA gets paid the balance by the government THEN sells your house at auction! They get the balance of the loan plus the sale of your home! This is why they don’t care about you and this is why they have been sued many times and lost.

Instead of using the governments bailout money in 2008 to help their customers, Bank of America pocketed the money and denied thousands upon thousands of loan modifications. Why would BOA want to help you when they can knock you out of your house and collect from the government! Bank of America will deny this and say they value you as a customer. NEVER BELIEVE THEM!

The ultimate Too Big to Fail bank really is America, a hyper gluttonous ward of the state whose limitless fraud and criminal conspiracies we’ll all be paying for until the end of time. Did you hear about the plot to rig global interest rates? The $137 million fine for bilking needy schools and cities? The ingenious plan to suck multiple fees out of the unemployment checks of jobless workers? Take your eyes off BOA for 10 seconds and guaranteed, they’ll be into some shit again: Bank of America is like the world’s worst-behaved teenager, taking your car and running over kittens and fire hydrants on the way to Vegas for the weekend, maxing out your credit cards in the three days you spend at your aunt’s funeral. They’re out of control, yet they’ll never do time or go out of business, because the government remains creepily committed to their survival.

Some reasons Bank of America SUCKS

  1. Do BOA employees FOLLOW UP ON THEIR WORD?
  2. DO BOA employees DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY WILL DO FOR YOU?
  3. DO BOA employees FOLLOW THROUGH?
  4. Do BOA employees know what they’re doing?
  5. Do BOA employees care?

The answer is NO to all of these questions

Deceptive loan modification practices result in class suit against Bank of America

Here’s some of the worst advice we’ve heard about loan modifications and foreclosure:

“Stop paying your mortgage to get a loan mod”

Homeowners who are current on their mortgage have been told that they need to stop paying their mortgage to be eligible for a loan modification.

THIS IS WRONG!

You do need to show that you’ve had a hardship that’s making it hard to afford your mortgage, but you do not have to be in default to get a loan modification.

A consumer banking deceptive practices class action lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court. The lawsuit alleges that Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) created and headed an illegal enterprise that was designed to defraud homeowners who sought loan modifications as part of the government’s Home Affordable Modification Program, or “HAMP.”

Bank of America masterminded a scheme that allowed it to deny giving thousands of its customers help in exchange for the $45 billion it took in bailout funds from the government.

“Bank of America gamed the system, perpetrating a fraud on both its customers and American taxpayers,” said Steve Berman, one of the attorneys who filed the lawsuit. “BofA promised that it would work with homeowners to modify their mortgages under the HAMP program. Instead it took $45 billion in taxpayer money and fought as hard as it could to avoid granting modifications, squeezing every last dollar from its customers and wrongfully foreclosing thousands of people’s homes in the process.”

The lawsuit alleges that Bank of America employed contractors who repeatedly lied to Bank of America’s customers. The suit claims that employees of one such contractor, “Urban,” answered the phone, “Bank of America ??” Office of the President,” when they did not work directly for Bank of America.

Former employees confirm Bank of America delayed modifications on purpose

Former employees have also confirmed that Bank of America instructed its employees to delay modifications by claiming that it had not received paperwork and payments when it had, indeed, received them. Former employees were also instructed to decline modifications en masse in periods known internally as “blitzes.”

The complaint also alleges that employees who questioned the ethics of declining modifications for fraudulent reasons, or of lying to customers, were subject to discipline including termination.

The lawsuit claims that Bank of America is guilty of violating the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO and asks for damages to be awarded to a proposed class defined as:

“All individuals whose home mortgage loans have been serviced by BOA and who, since April 13, 2009, (1) applied to BOA for a HAMP loan modification, (2) fulfilled an FHA Trial Period Plan Agreement or any other trial-payment agreement that was not issued pursuant to SD-09 (form 3156), (3) sent documents to, or received documents or other communications from, Urban employees in connection with their attempts to modify their home mortgage, and (4) did not receive, within 30 days after making all required trial payments, a permanent loan modification that complied with HAMP rules.”

During the economic downturn in the 2007-2008 time period, Congress decided to insure the continued viability of certain banks who were failing because of poor choices they had made. As part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) program, Congress “lent” billions of taxpayer dollars to Bank of America (BOA) so that it would not fail. One of the conditions of receiving that money was that BOA would help its mortgage customers by participating in the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP).

The HAMP program was designed to give relief to homeowners who, because of the economic collapse, could no longer afford their mortgage payments. The program was supposed to provide a straightforward, efficient means of allowing homeowners to modify their mortgages so that they would be able to afford their payments and retain their homes.

While BOA participated in the HAMP program as a condition of accepting the TARP money, it did everything it could to thwart homeowners seeking a HAMP mortgage modification. While other banks’ customers were being approved on their HAMP modification applications almost 90% of the time, BOA customers were being approved at close to 30%.

While other banks’ customers were being approved on their HAMP modification applications almost 90% of the time, BOA customers were being approved at close to 30%.

How did Bank of America prevent mortgage modifications?

What we have learned through former BOA employees and supervisors is that BOA engaged in a scheme of deceptions, misrepresentations and outright lies to keep its customers from getting HAMP mortgage modifications.

Among other things, BOA would:

  • repeatedly and intentionally lose customers modification applications
  • falsely claim that the applications were incomplete or stale
  • tell applicants that they could not qualify unless they were behind on their payments
  • charge its customers unnecessary fees
  • fail to apply customers’ payments to the proper accounts.

BOA did this because it figured out that it would make far more money through foreclosures or less favorable mortgage modification than through HAMP modifications.

As a result of its fraud, BOA has been forced to repay the United States government a billion dollars! What BOA has not done, however, is repay all of the customers it defrauded. That’s what our law firm is committed to do for our clients – getting them the justice they deserve.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ME

Most recently I was informed by Bank of America my monthly mortgage payment was going down by $80. I called to confirm. One rep said yes, a 2nd said yes but not for 3 months, and a third couldn’t find that info in their system.

REALLY?! Before I called I knew this would be chaos. IT GETS BETTER!

I paid the $80 over the phone with a 4th rep who sounded competent. Two days later I get a notice from my bank holding my checking account that bills are bouncing. How could this be? I knew I had a couple hundred dollars in the account.

Bank of America didn’t charge me $80, they charged me over $5600! YES! OVER FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS! WTF!! I never authorized that and the rep never mentioned that amount!

Luckily my bank stopped payment on that insane transaction. I now have to contact BOA again to pay the $80 difference that I attempted last week. So now, I’m a month late with my mortgage due to their error of “your mortgage is $80 less.” It’s not $80 less but I paid $80 because I was told to by BOA. So now I’m late because of them and this still isn’t resolved.

BOA records their calls, so if needed, I will have the recordings subpoenaed by an attorney. I’ll go after Bank of America.

I’ve done HOURS of research on how Bank of America screws over anyone they can for any amount of money they can.

By the way, this is the 2nd time Bank of America did this to me with the incorrect monthly mortgage amount due. They are intentionally trying to get me out of my home.

During my last call on the $80 fiasco, they informed me a letter with intent to start foreclosure was sent! WHAT!? Over $80 difference, which was their fault?!

The house I have been in for 10 years is looking at foreclosure unless I can come up with $5600! Where did this number come from? They told me a year previous in order to be eligible for the HARP loan modification I would need to skip 2 mortgage payments to show a hardship. I felt very bad doing this and it felt wrong…because it is. I’m fighting this, as I have been for the last 10 years!

For starters I filed a complaint against them with the FDIC online. It’s free and easy to do.

There was a lawsuit against Bank of America in 2018

Bank of America destroyed documents as borrowers tried to save their homes, suit says

Among claims in the latest suit:

Bank of America falsely told applicants they had to stop making regular monthly mortgage payments to be eligible for a HAMP modification. It was part of the bank’s scheme to prevent borrowers from receiving a modification so that it could acquire their homes through foreclosure.

Bank of America employees made homeowners submit applications over and over in order to frustrate them, ensuring that their mortgage would be denied a modification. Applications were intentionally lost or destroyed to prevent borrowers from getting a modification. The bank’s employees also falsely told applicants that documents were not current or were missing, in order to delay modification requests and ultimately deny them.

Bank of America profited from charging borrowers fees for unnecessary and unlawful property inspections. The bank did not tell borrowers the inspections were taking place or that they were being charged for them.

The North Carolina borrower, Chester Taylor, contacted the bank in 2010 to request a modification after experiencing financial hardship in part because of the down economy, the suit says.

Taylor stopped making his mortgage payments on the advice of a bank representative, fell into default and Bank of America foreclosed on his home in 2012. As a result of the foreclosure, a judgment of $117,130 was entered against Taylor, who then filed for bankruptcy.

Bank of America has previously attracted the scrutiny of government authorities for its conduct under HAMP. In 2012, it entered into a settlement with authorities to resolve claims it defrauded the program as part of a landmark $25 billion settlement involving other large banks accused of mortgage and foreclosure abuses.

Deceptive loan modification practices result in class suit against Bank of America

The complaint alleges that Bank of America masterminded a scheme that allowed it to denygiving thousands of its customers help in exchange for the $45 billion it took in bailout funds.

“We believe that Bank of America gamed the system, perpetrating a fraud on both its customers and American taxpayers,” said Steve Berman, one of the attorneys who filed the lawsuit.

There are HUNDREDS of websites talking about why Bank of America SUCKS

A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW HOW BOA SHOULD BE AVOIDED!

Bank of America sucks. BOA is the worst excuse for a bank
Bank of America should be avoided at all costs!

It all started with the purchase of our new home in 2007, just in time for the recession, when the banks profited and the government bailed them out.

It was a time of chaos. People were either leaving their homes in droves or being foreclosed on because they couldn’t make the mortgage payments the bank setup for them. Sure, this wasn’t just a Bank of America problem, but they certainly took advantage of the times!

Bank of America sucks and should be avoided. Never use Bank of America for refinance or mortgages.

Bank of America had a plan in place where you could refinance and even apply for a smaller loan with lower interest. For fear of losing their homes, thousands of BOA customers bought into this.

Every story was the same. I even tried, and turned it down. It was scary how my story matched what every homeowner had said about Bank of America. Here’s how they roped you in and forced your home into foreclosure:

  1. You call BOA asking for mortgage assistance
  2. Bank of America offers the HARP plan.
  3. BOA sends you a stack of HARP paperwork to be filled out and mailed back.
  4. If you qualify for HARP your payments and mortgage will be less.
  5. You get to keep your house at a much lower rate.

This HARP plan sounds great doesn’t it? HA HA, that’s what BOA wants you to think. Bank of America feeds off your fear and offers a plan to keep your family safe.

Here’s what happened EVERY TIME a homeowner applied to the plan through Bank of America. When I say EVERY TIME, I mean EVER SINGLE TIME! I have friends who worked there to back this up. Do a google search for yourself. You’ll read thousands of horror stories on Bank of America refinancing through HARP.

HARP THROUGH BOA WAS A TRICK TO FORECLOSE ON YOUR HOME!

  1. Bank of America sends you the stack of forms to be filled out.
  2. You need copies of home expenses, bills, credit cards, pay slips.
  3. You need to make a certain amount of income (most everyone is accepted.)
  4. BOA says to stop making payments on your home during this process.
  5. Stopping payments on your home shows times of hardship, and is a prerequisite for the HARP process.
  6. MOST EVERYONE who applied was told their files were not received or incomplete! This buys Bank of America more time.
  7. You fill out the forms again after they send you another confusing packet.
  8. Without you knowing, Bank of America starts the foreclosure process on your home since you haven’t made payments.

Wait a minute, didn’t Bank of America ask you to stop making payments to quality for the HARP mortgage assistance program? Yes, they did.

Bank of America is EVIL and will do whatever they can to get whatever money they can from you! They want you OUT OF YOUR HOUSE so they can sell it to someone else.

Don’t think for a second they care about you or your family. This is not true and never will be! A google search will show you thousands of BOA complaint websites.

Bank of America sucks and should be avoided. Never use Bank of America for refinance or mortgages.
Google searches show hundreds of Bank of America treating customers poorly.

There was a time I lost my job due to a company going out of business from the recession in 2008. We were thousands of dollars underwater on our home, like most homeowners. We couldn’t afford the house and we had our first child on the way. I called Bank of America begging to let me pay half the mortgage to show good faith because I needed just a couple more months to find a job. I was confident I could find a job in a couple months. I had been unemployed for 6 months at the time and looked daily, for hours.

Their answer, time and again was, sorry sir, anything less than full payment will be seen as not paid and you will be in foreclosure.

I NEVER missed a payment and was always on time as well. I needed help and just asked for a month extension. I called multiple times over a couple weeks with the same answer. I get it, banks need to make money. It’s not like I was going to skip town or screw them over.

No Bank of America employee offered to help. We have always lived very lean. No cable tv, no going out to eat, etc. There wasn’t much to cut back on. It was choose to eat or lose the house. My pride didn’t allow me to walk away from the house and I also didn’t feel that would be right, although thousands of families were walking away from their homes.

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS AGAINST BANK OF AMERICA

Did you know that filing for bankruptcy can include your house? Once that is done, there is nothing the bank can do if you decide to leave. They cannot come after you for the balance. I know a couple people who did just this and Bank of America jumped at the chance to help them with refinancing! TOO LATE! BOA knew they were screwed. They knew they couldn’t go after the balance so they’ll do everything they can to rope you into another mortgage / refinance. Once you sign that dotted line a 2nd time, after bankruptcy, you are obligated to pay.

If you’re with Bank of America and you file for bankruptcy, NEVER REFINANCE through them! NEVER USE BANK OF AMERICA FOR ANYTHING!

Refinancing renews your obligation to the bank and you won’t be able to walk away from the home if you need to. I’m not saying to walk from your home but if you can’t afford it, family comes first and you don’t need Bank of America coming after you for the balance. They screwed themselves and were bailed out by the government. They don’t care about you, why should you care?

REALLY? F OFF! You know why they are desperate to help now? It’s because if I walk from the house they can’t touch me! I’m under no obligation to stay in the house or pay them anything if I want to leave. They can’t come after me for the balance or any legal fees ever! I’m protected by bankruptcy and they know this.

You know why they keep sending letters with “great” refinance options? Because BOA knows once I sign on the dotted line with a new mortgage, I’ll be roped into responsibility for the home again. I will not be able to walk from the house if I sign a new mortgage.

I can stay in the house as long as I want and nothing changes. The moment I walk, there is NOTHING they can do about it. Not sure if I’ll play that card or not but it’s nice to know I have the option.

IF YOU CALL BOA, RECORD YOUR PHONE CALLS!

I won’t waste your time or mine typing all the nightmare hours I spent on the phone with inept BOA reps giving me bogus information.

One last story I will share with you happened just this last week. I have been fighting to get the PMI taken off the mortgage for about 5 years. PMI is mortgage insurance and really just a way to pad the monthly mortgage. Bank of America has been known to keep it on for months longer than what is needed. I have been fighting and fighting to have it removed. This would give me an extra $90 a month.

After 5 years, I FINALLY got a letter from Bank of America saying the PMI has been removed from the mortgage! I couldn’t believe it. All my fighting finally paid off.

I also received a letter stating the change with the new discounted mortgage would begin 8/1/2019.

I called BOA to verify and they said it isn’t in effect yet. It won’t be for a couple months at least. WHAT?! I have 2 letters from BOA stating the new changes take affect 8/1/2019 with the new amount to be paid moving forward.

I was very nice on the phone with the 3 reps I spoke with. One was clueless and made things worse. The 2nd was rude as hell and I put her in her place. The 3rd was nice but I had no confidence in him. The 4th was a manager I demanded to speak to. BOA is filled with idiots and scammers.

So now here we go again! Inept, worthless, incompetent people passing on wrong info to me, or, are they just doing Bank of America’s bidding?

Is it a trick to get me to pay the lower rate so they can catch me and start foreclosure? I took photos of the letters and emailed them to a manager, who I spoke with. I have yet to hear from him.

I paid the lower rate, as it is 8/2/2019, and the letters tell me that’s what it is. Is Bank of America going to argue letters that came from them? I’m sure they will. I will not back down. The letters state the date and I’m following what was sent.

Bank of America is the WORST “bank” and you should avoid them at all costs!

I will leave you with some stories from the web from Bank of America employees:

HARP was created in 2009 to give borrowers who were current on their mortgages but had little or negative equity an opportunity to refinance at lower rates.

The HARP mortgage program was modified over the years and eventually enabled homeowners to refinance up to 125 percent of the value of their homes without primary mortgage insurance.

After being extended twice over the years, HARP expired on Dec. 31, 2018.

BOYCOTT BANK OF AMERICA – YOUR MONEY IS SAFER IN YOUR UNDERWEAR DRAWER.

How to get rid of a staph infection that keeps coming back

How to get rid of a staph infection that keeps coming back

I want to talk about how I got rid of a staph infection that would not go away!

WHAT IS A STAPH INFECTION?

Staph infections are caused by staphylococcus bacteria, known as staphylococcus aureus. These types of germs are commonly found on the skin or in the nose of healthy individuals. Most of the time, these bacteria cause no problems or result in relatively minor skin infections.

Most people fight off staphylococcus bacteria with no problem, even if it enters the skin via a cut or some type of wound.

Staph infections can turn deadly if the bacteria invade deeper into your body, entering your bloodstream, joints, bones, lungs or heart. A growing number of healthy people are developing life-threatening staph infections.

I had a staph infection and 2 rounds of antibiotics in the course of a month did nothing but clear my skin temporarily. This staphylococcus bacterial infection refused to die. It came back a few days after finishing the antibiotics! I was getting very irritated.

Treatment for staphylococcus aureus usually involves antibiotics and drainage of the infected area. Some staph infections no longer respond to common antibiotics. The main reason certain strains of bacteria don’t respond to antibiotic treatment is because a lot of people don’t finish their antibiotics! ALWAYS FINISH your antibiotics even if you feel or look better! By not finishing your antibiotics, you’re allowing the bacteria to build defenses against said antibiotics. This makes the bacteria stronger and more resistant. Certain strains of bacteria are now immune to antibiotics for this reason.

Doctors use several different types of antibiotics to treat staph infections. The choice of antibiotic depends on the type and severity of the infection as well as drug-resistance patterns of the particular bacterial type. Some antibiotics that have been used to treat staph infections are:

  • cefazolin,
  • cefuroxime,
  • cephalexin,
  • nafcillin (Nallpen),
  • oxacillin (Bactocill),
  • dicloxacillin,
  • vancomycin,
  • clindamycin (Cleocin),
  • rifampin, and
  • telavancin (Vibativ).

Combinations of antibiotics and other antibiotics can also be used. Some staph strains, such as MRSA, are resistant to many antibiotics. MRSA is really bad. I had that too.

How Do Staph Infections Spread?

Staph bacteria can spread through contaminated surfaces and from person to person. Staph infections are highly contagious, and although found everywhere. Kids can carry staph bacteria from one area of their body to another — or pass it to other people — via dirty hands or fingernails. Staph bacteria lives on your skin, in your nose, under fingernails, on countertops and especially hospitals. It’s everywhere.

Staph infections can spread from person to person in group living situations (like college dorms). Usually this happens when people with skin infections share personal things like bed linens, towels or clothing.

Washing clothing and bed sheets in hot water with bleach or lysol laundry sanitizer (what I use) is one step in killing the staph bacteria or MRSA.

A staph infection isn’t something to take lightly. It is very difficult to kill staphylococcus aureus and it’s often mistaken for acne. A doctor can confirm the bacterial infection by taking a sample and running tests.

WHAT ARE staphylococcus bacteria SYMPTOMS?

I’m going to tell you what I did to resolve this after taking antibiotics, but first, I want to tell you the symptoms and what to look for and what it feels like.

You should never pop these pimples on your own, as it will cause the staphylococcus bacteria to spread rapidly (within hours) to other areas of your skin or clothing!

Symptoms of Staph infection

Staph infections can range from minor skin problems to endocarditis, a life-threatening infection of the inner lining of your heart (endocardium). As a result, signs and symptoms of staph infections vary widely, depending on the location and severity of the infection.

Skin infections

Skin infections caused by staph bacteria include:

  • Boils. The most common type of staph infection is the boil, a pocket of pus that develops in a hair follicle or oil gland. The skin over the infected area usually becomes red and swollen. If a boil breaks open, it will probably drain pus. Boils occur most often under the arms or around the groin or buttocks.
  • Impetigo. This contagious, often painful rash can be caused by staph bacteria. Impetigo usually features large blisters that may ooze fluid and develop a honey-colored crust.
  • Cellulitis. Cellulitis — an infection of the deeper layers of skin — causes skin redness and swelling on the surface of your skin. Sores (ulcers) or areas of oozing discharge may develop, too.
  • Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome. Toxins produced as a result of a staph infection may lead to staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome. Affecting mostly babies and children, this condition features fever, a rash and sometimes blisters. When the blisters break, the top layer of skin comes off — leaving a red, raw surface that looks like a burn.

How does a Staff Infection start?

My experience with staph infection and Impetigo mirrored everything I read about online. One moment my face was fine with no blemishes and the next moment I felt an itch on my face, like a mosquito bite.

I saw a very small pimple starting to form and thought nothing of it. The itch was irritating and lasted into the night. I knew at that point something was wrong.

Since the itch was very persistent, I thought it was an ingrown hair. I washed my face a couple extra times, dabbed some rubbing alcohol, and went to bed.

The next morning it still itched and the “pimple” was noticeably larger with a white tip and black center core. I wasn’t sure, but thought it was a bad ingrown hair. All through the 2nd day it itched. That 2nd night I had enough and wanted relief. I sterilized a needle and opened the pimple so it would drain (never do this.) This was a big mistake, which I didn’t know at the time. The staph infection was about to spread.

Itching was less after cleaning the area and applying rubbing alcohol but my troubles were just starting.

The next day at work, a coworker asked what was wrong with my cheek. It felt like a rug burn. My face was a light shade of red around the area where I took care of the pimple the night before. My face also had a slight glaze to it and felt mildly sticky, which is where it burned.

Later that night, my face started to itch again with 2 other pimples popping up. I made an appointment the next day for my doctor.

I had impetigo. The 3rd morning, the right side of my face was encrusted in a thin golden crust. It still felt like a rug burn and there were 4 or 5 white head pimples. The skin had a tight texture like sunburn / dry skin like a scab. I’ve never had anything like this before.

Impetigo and how to treat it after you have antibiotics
Impetigo has a golden hard crust

A visit to the doctor confirmed it was Impetigo, which I never heard of. I had a staph infection again…just one week later it came back worse. I had just healed up from pneumonia a couple weeks before so I assumed those antibiotics brought my resistance to nothing. Early 2019 was bad for me. First pneumonia (first time with that) and now 2 bouts of staph infection because my resistance was so low from being sick from pneumonia. I was on antibiotics for 1.5 months with almost no break. That destroyed all my good bacteria, which didn’t help me to fight anything off. I had close to no immune system.

A topical antibiotic and oral antibiotic were prescribed, which cleared me up after 4 days. A full 10 days of antibiotics took care of the issue, so I thought.

After 4 days of being off antibiotics, I felt that itch again, with another small pimple showing on my face. I was livid but did not attempt to clean it myself, after remembering how the staph infection spread before.

I went to the doctor again. Another culture showed it was indeed another staph infection and the staphylococcus bacteria was still living on my skin.

Another 10 days of the antibiotics cleared me up, with another small pimple forming after a week of finishing the antibiotics. This was now ridiculous.

I started searching on ways to kill staph bacteria on my own.

Here’s what I did to keep the staph infection from returning

hibiclens antimicrobial cleanser will kill bacteria, staph bacteria and mrsaI took a shower using body soap and then washed again with Hibiclens. Hibiclens safeguards against germs up to 24 hrs, so it’s a great choice to fight germs, fungi & bacteria during sports, school, work and home. Hibiclens antibacterial soap is gentle on sensitive skin and used in hospitals by doctors and surgeons for its antiseptic properties. It’s used as a surface wound cleanser and to keep hands and skin germ free. Hibiclens kills bacteria, viruses and fungi and continues killing germs for up to 24 hours after washing. It’s antibacterial soap that’s gentle on even sensitive skin, even with frequent use. I left Hibiclens on my skin for 5 minutes before washing off. My skin felt cleaner after using. My doctor recommended Hibiclens. I use it every day.

using garlic to kill staph infectionI took garlic supplements and doubled up on them…2 garlic pills a day. Not only does garlic support heart health, but the allicin in garlic kills staphylococcus bacteria. I did a lot of reading on what other people were doing and garlic supplements kept coming up in the fight against staph infections. These garlic pills do not cause burping and do not make your breath smell like garlic. Take with food. Make sure it has allicin.

digestive advantage is the best probiotic and kills staph bacteriaI added Digestive Advantage probiotics to my diet. Antibiotics kill all bacteria in your body, both good and bad. You need good bacteria to support your health and digestive system. Without this beneficial bacteria, not only will your immune system suffer, but your digestive system is affected as well. I needed to replenish the good bacteria that was destroyed by antibiotics. I tried a few different probiotic brands including that really expensive one and Digestive Advantage is the best I have used. I take 2 pills a day to build up the good bacteria in my system.

nutribullet pro is the best blender for healthy smoothieWhenever I make a smoothie for dinner or lunch with the Nutribullet blender, I add a clove of fresh garlic. I know that sounds like a lot but you don’t taste it. One whole clove of garlic maybe twice a week in a smoothie. Garlic will help you out in ways you can’t even imagine.

Another thing is to cut out sugar as much as you can. Not only is sugar very bad for you, but it feeds bacteria. Sugar helps the staph bacteria infection grow stronger.

Another thing that strengthens the staph infection is smoking. Did you know that staph bacteria HATE nicotine? The bacteria will build walls around itself to protect against nicotine. This wall also protects the staph bacteria from the antibiotics you are taking!

You will also need to change out the loufa you use in the shower at least once a month. If you wash using a washcloth, use a new one ever couple days. I didn’t use the same wash cloth on my face as I did my body.

kill staph infection and mrsa with lysol laundry sanitizerI used lysol laundry sanitizer. This is HUGE in winning the war against staph bacteria. Lysol laundry sanitizer Kills 99.9% of bacteria like Staphylococcus Aureus & Klebsiella pneumoniae, simply add to rinse cycle. Contains 0% bleach, works even in cold water. Gentle on most fabrics including whites & color. Works in all standard & HE machines and is suitable for children’s clothes, gym clothes, underwear, towels, bedding & delicates. We put it in a Downy ball.

I also bought clorox wipes and wiped down all door handles, my steering wheel, phone, ipad and anything else I would have touched.

I hope this helps you with getting rid of staphylococcus bacteria. These steps helped me and the staph infection has not returned! It’s been 3 months! The same steps can be taken to get rid of MRSA.

If you follow the steps I did, I’m confident you will be rid of the staph infection. You may need to be on antibiotics first to knock out the staph infection. Always check with your doctor! Do not take what I’m writing for medical advice. See your doctor. I would highly recommend you use these same practices once your staph infection is gone. I still use Hibiclens and the lysol laundry sanitizer and always will.

60% of the population has staph bacteria living in their nose. Most people have it on their skin. If your immune system is weakened and you come into contact with staph bacteria (it’s everywhere, especially in hospitals), you could be in for a long healing period and can even turn deadly.

I never thought I would get hit with a staph infection. I’m pretty healthy and never thought it would be so hard to get rid of. After a month, my immune system is much better than it was, having introduced the good bacteria back into my system using the products I talked about.

Antibiotics are great and sometimes needed. Remember, not only do antibiotics kill the bad bacteria, but all your good bacteria. You need to get that good bacteria back as fast as you can. It is highly recommended you take probiotics while taking antibiotics. Digestive Advantage are rated as one of the best probiotics since they travel all through your intestines where needed. Most probiotics are digested in the stomach, which do you no good at all.

Good luck and Good Health!

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – Smart speaker with Alexa Review

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – Smart speaker with Alexa Review

This is an Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Smart speaker (with Alexa) Review for those who have some form of Alexa device or are thinking of getting one. I have an Echo Dot 3rd Gen and an Amazon Echo 2nd gen and love them both.

Sound quality is the best I’ve heard on a speaker of this size!!! Definitely worth paying a little extra for this Echo Dot over the 2nd generation model. I’m not going to discuss the functionality of what Alexa has to offer as there’s tons of info already out there. For starters though, you can turn your lights on, tv on, control the volume of tv, play music, reorder products from Amazon, just by talking to Alexa. Simply say, “Alexa, order more dog food,” and Alexa places the Amazon order for you.

I’ve been a happy owner of an Amazon Echo 2nd generation and three 3rd generation Echo Dots for a year now, and love them. I’ll add some thoughts about how to choose which Echo device may be best for you. My main use is streaming music on both, either from Amazon’s music streaming (The Echo products have built in bluetooth and wifi card for talking to the internet) or via bluetooth to my iPhone. I used to use headphones to my iPhone while working out in the basement but that was a hassle. I also got sick of the smaller sound from the iPhone when working on projects while in the basement. This is what prompted the purchase of the Echo Dot…now I stream from my iPhone to the Echo Dot via bluetooth.

The most obvious update to the Echo Dot 3rd generation is the new look: it’s as if someone took a 2nd generation Dot, inflated it with an air pump, and wrapped the edge in fabric. And it’s not bad!

What’s different/updated in the 3rd Generation Dot:
1) It is slightly larger than the 2nd generation device, measuring 3.9″ wide x 1.7″ tall (2nd gen was 3.3″ wide x 1.3″ tall), and the top and bottom edges are more rounded. It is also substantially heavier at nearly twice the weight of the 2nd generation model.
2) The 2nd generation Dot came in two color options (black and white), each of which had a shiny plastic exterior that I personally thought looked a little cheap. The 3rd generation Dot has a fabric exterior which gives it a classier appearance, and it’s available in three colors: heather grey, sandstone, and charcoal. The fabric and rounded edges give the 3rd generation Dot a much softer look than its predecessor.
4) The 3rd generation Dot has a larger speaker (1.6″, versus 1.1″ on the 2nd gen), which is paired with a larger driver as well. I’ll talk below about the effect this has on audio quality.
5) The placement of the microphones is slightly different: while the 2nd generation had seven small far-field microphones on its top surface; the 3rd generation has four large microphones.

The sound quality on the Echo Dot 3rd generation is very good and very full. The sound quality on the Amazon Echo 2nd generation is larger and fuller, due to its size of course.

The Echo Dot has the BEST speaker I’ve ever heard for under $50. The functions of the echo along with the music playing functionality and the sound quality makes it a steal at this price point. It can get pretty loud, while keeping the nice punchy bass. If you like deeper bass you can feel, I recommend the Amazon Echo.

If your primary motivation for a speaker is to listen to music, go with the echo. If your budget is under $50 then go with the dot. The dot will only flourish is an enclosed space. It needs walls nearby to bounce off to add to the bass response.

I’d recommend this Echo Dot for someone who needs an echo for their kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. I use mine in the workout area of the basement, while the Amazon Echo stays in the kitchen.

amazon echo dot reviewIf you’re looking for a great-sounding Alexa unit that streams music, takes commands from Alexa, looks great and is needed for an average room, I recommend the Echo Dot.

Amazon echo generation 2 review

If you’re looking for a larger, full-sound you want to crank up, I recommend the Amazon Echo. I have both the Echo and Dot and love them each for what they do.

7 tips to make a great YouTube video

7 tips to make a great YouTube video

Creating a video (or video series) to help market yourself or product or service on YouTube is easy.  YouTube videos increase the chance of a purchase by 144%.

At the time of this writing, I have been working with YouTube for 5 years. I have 25 years of video production, audio engineering, photography and music production EACH. I also run this blog and am a tech geek.

I can help you out a lot.

Like many companies, you might not have the in-house resources to create a clip or much time to waste on learning video editing software yourself.

You may also just have an iPhone or iPad and that’s fine. Many of the large YouTube channels started out filming with just an iPhone, and a lot of them still do, including me.

1. Craft a production plan.

When you enter video production, it’s good to plan as much as possible before you start rolling. This will make the production and editing process flow smoothly.

Personally, I don’t do this step. I have been in video production, photography and audio engineering for around 30 years so it’s 2nd nature for me. I also just start filming and talk as I go. Since I know the material I talk about, I can talk forever, but that’s me.

If you’re just starting out with YouTube, I recommend using notes or cards, your iPad or phone, to read from if you get stuck. You can always edit the parts out when you pause, need to think while on camera, or just aren’t feeling it. Just keep filming. You can always edit any video out later.

How to create content for your YouTube channel

Identify your goals and mission for making a video and make a plan that aligns with them. Create a script or use your notes highlighting major points you’d like to get across to your YouTube audience.

Share this with team members involved in the making of the YouTube video so everyone can contribute. This will help your team stay on the same page and track your progress if you’re on a deadline. More heads are better than one.

A lot of YouTube channels have one creator who does everything so don’t worry if you don’t have a team. I am the only one creating content, filming, editing and promoting my YouTube channels. It can be done with just one.

how to make a video for youtube. always be yourself when filming a video for your youtube channel. your personality is the most important thing next to content.

2. Showcase your personality.

This is very important! Whatever it is you’re producing, you’re likely not the first one to do so. You need to stand out. Be yourself in your YouTube videos. No one else can do this better than you. Don’t worry what other people think and don’t question yourself.

What sets you apart from the pack? Just because someone has 1 million YouTube subscribers to your 10, doesn’t mean they’re better than you.

Making YouTube videos takes hours of work spanning over weeks or months. This is why you hear people say, only make YouTube videos if you enjoy the content you’re producing. NEVER do something you don’t love. It will get boring and you will hate it.

Have you ever watched someone’s YouTube video just because you loved their personality? Chances are, it was a piece of visual content—perhaps a video—that you instantly connected with because it was likable. Maybe they made you laugh?

If people like you, they’ll become subscribers to your YouTube channel.

How to do it

Be honest with yourself about your on-camera skills. Is someone else in your group more charismatic? Put him or her in front of the camera, instead. If it’s only you, you’ll get over it in time. I used to be very camera shy years ago. Now, I don’t care if a camera is on me. There is no one else in the room when I film and that helps. I also don’t care what other people think so I film what I want.

If you really don’t want to be on video you can film your content and speak over the video either while filming or afterwards during editing. Many YouTube creators do this.

how to film a great youtube video that gets viewsTalking into a mic and speaking to an unseen audience may seem easy, but it often isn’t for those starting out. You might freeze, thinking what to say next. You may feel your info doesn’t flow. You may have a lot of doubts. Get over that.

The key to filming yourself is pretending you’re talking to a friend. You don’t second guess everything you say to them do you? Just talk.

Do several takes, keep them all, and edit out awkward pauses. Practice trimming and splitting clips until your transitions look natural. The human mind is incredibly fast. Having shorter quicker clips that get to the point will make your videos much better.

No one wants to watch you unboxing a product for 2 minutes while you look for scissors, accidentally knock the camera, look for your script, etc. Simply keep the first 3 seconds of you opening the box and that last few seconds before you take the product out. Everyone will get that you are opening a box. They don’t need to see the entire process.

If you’re making a physical product, some footage of the manufacturing process is an excellent way to make your product relatable. You can show this footage while talking about it into a microphone.

Don’t be afraid to whip out your cell phone if you’re missing a moment, be it putting the final touches on a great-looking product or your lead developer falling asleep at his desk.

3. Clearly explain your product or service.

You know your product better than anyone else. That’s great, but you may make the mistake of assuming everyone else knows the ins and outs of your product, too.

Don’t jump right to marketing “Awesome Thing About My Product Number Five,” just because you assume Things one through four are obvious.

Look at your product as if you know nothing about what it is, what it does, or what kinds of problems it can solve. Tell yourself the story of your product as if you know nothing. Then, take that story and tell it to everyone else.

I hate watching how-to videos and they say, “take the K49 valve.” What the hell is a K49 valve?! What does it do? Is there a K50 valve, and if so, would I want that one”? Explain it like, are there any other valves available? Why do you use this one and what does it do? Explain everything whether you think they know about it or not. Don’t go overboard with these side explanations. Let your viewers know you can make more videos on that topic in the future.

4. What camera to use for YouTube videos

The better the video and audio quality, the better your YouTube videos will be. Most iPhones and iPads and other devices all film in 4k so they will be fine. Most of my YouTube videos are filmed and edited on my iPad pro. For larger production videos I use Final Cut Pro video editing software on my iMac.

Here’s a tutorial I made on how to edit videos.

Here are some of the more popular cameras used by YouTube creators in vlogging or standard YouTube video creation.

best cameras to use for making youtube videos

5. Add entertaining and informational value.

Not everyone will want to sit through your video, even if it is short. Why should they? There are millions of other videos on the Internet.

Figure out what value your video is going to offer to your audience. Does it tell a great story? Does it explain how to solve a problem? YouTube videos I have created that show how to solve a problem get the most views. Even if you think it’s stupid or you think everyone already knows what you have to say, make a video for it!

Add value to your video, be yourself, and watch it get shared beyond just your inner circle of friends. Believe it or not, most people are altruistic—if they see a clear benefit to be gained from watching your video, they’ll want to share that benefit with their friends and connections.

How to do it

Think back to the last video you shared. Why did you share it? Chances are, if you’re like most people, you wanted to establish your authority on the topic. You wanted to be the first to present that piece of information to the people in your circle.

You can give people the social credibility they want by creating smart, informative videos for them to share. If your product solves a problem, present the solution in a way that sounds revolutionary.

For example, if your product speeds up a task that your target customer must perform often, use picture-in-picture editing features to demonstrate how much quicker they can accomplish the task using your product.

It’s great to tell someone they can save 30 seconds searching for the best rate on their next flight, but if you can show the typical process side-by-side with your innovation, you can actually make them sit through those 30 seconds.

how to make a viral videos

6. Tell a story that engages the customer.

Think back to high school English class, when you learned about the components of a story—there’s an introduction, conflict, climax and resolution. If you leave out any of these crucial parts, you’re left with a collection of sentences that have been smashed together for no apparent reason.

You need to tell a coherent story (and this will require some pre-planning, writing, and editing), but you should make sure it goes somewhere. A nice, tidy ending is great, but building suspense is better. Are you going to produce another video to continue the story? If so, why should your viewers be excited to watch it? Let them know in your video you will be making other videos like this.

How to do it

Make a plan for your video content, and look beyond video number one. Think of the story. What do you want to accomplish? Think of a grabbing intro, middle and end. Make it short. 3 minute YouTube videos on average do best.

Rather than one explainer video, is your product suited to a series of instructional videos? Can you help people create something with your product? Break that “something” into pieces, and create a series of short videos.

You can even record the entire series in one go, and use an easy editing tool to break the footage out into logical sections. Keeping your audience waiting for more (as long as it’s great content).

If you’re more of a storyteller, you can keep a video series looking cohesive (and cut down on your workload) by reusing clips.

Remind your viewers of the product benefits you explored last time, and build on the story you’ve already told. Just be sure to store your edited video somewhere safe—the cloud is your best bet—so you don’t have to repeat all your hard work each time you make a new video.

Even if your story doesn’t end at the end of the video, that chapter does. Make sure you leave your viewer with something concrete to do.

There should be a call-to-action at the end of every video, even if you set an expectation that another video will follow. You never know when a viewer will disengage from your content, so give them opportunities to become a customer or subscriber while you have their attention.

A call to action is having the viewer of your video do something such as subscribing or leaving a comment. Remind them to subscribe to your YouTube channel and to leave comments. YouTube loves subscribers and people leaving comments. This shows YouTube your videos are liked, which means YouTube will start to promote your videos over time.

The more videos you make, the better chance you have at being seen.

7. Title and promote the video.

You’ve created a great piece of video content that showcases your personality, explains what you’re doing, has a clear benefit, and tells a great story. What do you do next?

It’s time to promote the heck out of it.

How to do it

The best way to ensure people watch your video is to give it a great title.

After Google, YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world. Google now owns YouTube by the way.

You put a ton of research and consideration into your video. Do the same for your video title.

The same goes for your description and tags. Try using hashtags in your title to ensure you’re getting found with the right keywords. You’re also going to want to put some time into selecting the right thumbnail for your video.

This is all the potential viewer will see before they decide whether or not to hit the “play” button, so make that thumbnail image extra-compelling.

Making Marketing Videos

Regardless of the topic of your video or your amount of resources, be sure to follow these simple, but vital best practices when making a marketing video:

  • Clearly explain your service or product, as well as why it might be valuable to the customer. For example, if you sell a technology, you should use this video to explain what this technology does and why it might save a customer time and money. You could also use this video to show a demo of the product.
  • Be sure your video looks professional. Film in a properly lit environment with low background noise, if any. If you work in an open office, move your production into a quiet conference room or hallway. If the lighting is poor and it effects how the film subjects are seen on screen, try moving around lamps, or consider purchasing an affordable light at a home-goods or hardware store.
  • You don’t need to buy an expensive video camera, but try to use a lower-priced video camera, a digital camera that takes video, or a newer smartphone for a crisp image.
  • Make sure to get great audio in your video!
  • Hold your film device on a tripod or another surface to limit shakiness. Nothing ruins a great video like an unprofessional, unsteady image. Too much movement can also cause blurry visuals as a camera tries to auto-focus.
  • Use a video editing tool to put the video together so it looks clean and professional. When it comes to finding software, there are plenty of affordable options. Some computers, like Macs, already come with an easy-to-use program called IMovie. I do most of my video editing on my iPad using pro editing software called LumaFusion.
  • Export your finished product in high-definition. Exporting to HD allows your viewers to see a crisp clean image, rather than a blurry one, on most devices. Here’s a quick guide to editing Youtube videos.

That’s it! With these tips in mind, you can market your business like a seasoned video producer. Go forth and convert!

Red exclamation when importing video from SD card to iPad pro RESOLVED

Red exclamation when importing video from SD card to iPad pro RESOLVED!

I get a Red exclamation (!) when importing video from SD card to iPad pro. I have 3 YouTube channels and have been editing video mostly on my iPad pro using Lumafusion and love it! I have been a video and audio editor for over 25 years. The mobility of the iPad pro is awesome!

I film most of my YouTube videos with my iPhone and iPad pro, sharing files between the two, for easy editing in Lumafusion.

editing video on ipad pro with lumafusion. video filmed with panasonic gh5 micro four thirds mirrorless cameraOver the weekend I thought I’d break out my Panasonic GH5 for some nice High resolution filming with my favorite lens, a Panasonic 25mm F1.7 prime lens.

The next day I took the SD card out of the GH5 body and popped it into my Apple SD card reader to lightning adapter, for importing photos and videos in my iPad pro.

As always, the import screen came up, showing what photos and videos are available to import to the iPad from the SD card. I SAW ALL FILES IN THUMBNAIL FORM!

Red exclamation when importing video from SD card to iPad proAfter a couple minutes, the video thumbnails were greeted with the RED EXCLAMATION POINT.

The videos were not importing!

Reading forums and complaints from many video editors turned up no answers. Some people said it’s the file size, while others said it’s the file name. Other people said you need a special SD card reader. None of these are true.

I was fearing it was a 4k thing, since I was able to import 1080 60p just fine. Would I be able to edit 4k video in different resolutions on my iPad?! YES! READ ON!

The issue is the 10 bit video files I filmed. Apple IOS CANNOT HANDLE 10 BIT VIDEO FILES at the time of this writing. You are limited to 8 bit video files.

In your camera settings, choose a video setting that is 8 bit if you want to import video into your iPad pro.

IOS will only import 8 bit video files, not 10 bit.

Luckily, there are many settings in 8 bit to choose from in most camera settings. Is there a difference between 8 bit and 10 bit and are you losing much? It’s nothing you have to worry about unless you want to insanely zoom in on video. For that you will be better off filming with a 10 bit setting and editing on your iMac, Macbook, anything but IOS.

10 bit isn’t too much different than the 8 bit.

I was able to edit the 10 bit 4k 60p video in Final Cut Pro X on my iMac with no issues. Moving forward, I will need to choose an 8 bit video setting if I want to edit video on my iPad. No big deal at all.

I ran a dozen tests filming with different settings and they all pointed to the bit rate. 8 bit video could be imported into the iPad for editing but 10 bit would never show up…just fail. This was regardless of the file size.

GH5S vs GH5. I bought a GH5 and here’s why.

GH5S vs GH5. I bought a GH5 and here’s why.

Panasonic GH5S vs GH5. I have a GH5 and here’s why.

Trying to decide between a Panasonic GH5 and GH5s? In the end, the choice is yours…maybe I can help.

On the outside, very little has changed between the Panasonic GH5 and GH5s. The two cameras have the same design and dimensions, so many accessories will work seamlessly on both, including panasonic camera lenses. The only visual differences are the red video recording button, red ring around the drive dial and red S on the name. The button layouts are the same on the GH5 and GH5s.

The Panasonic GH5 went on sale at the end of March 2017. There was a major firmware update in September 2017.

panasonic gh5 micro four thirds camera by panasonic

The GH5 features a 20MP Live Mos sensor which is currently the highest resolution you can find on a Micro Four Thirds camera. There is no low pass filter, which maximizes sharpness. This is standard on Panasonic micro four thirds mirror less cameras.

panasonic gh5s vs gh5The GH5s has a newly designed chip with half the megapixel count of the GH5 (10.2MP). The larger the pixel, the more light is gathered, which reduces noise at high sensitivities like Sony’s A7s series.

The GH5 has a range of 200 to 25600 ISO and extended “pull” values down to 100. For video, the ISO range goes from 200 to 12800. This is MORE THAN ENOUGH, especially if you light your set, which you should always be doing anyway.

The GH5s takes the low light performance to a new level for Micro Four Thirds. It offers a range of 160 to 51200 ISO with extended values down to 80 and up to 204800 ISO. The entire range, including the extended settings, are available for stills and video.

Do you really need the insanely high ISO over 50,000 on the GH5? I don’t. I film between ISO 200 and 800, just like old school, back in the day. I might step it up to 1600 but that’s rare. I make sure the area is lit well. I don’t plan on filming anything in the street when the sun is gone. If that’s your thing, you will get some video noise even with the GH5s.

Panasonic GH5 LOW LIGHT Test Footage – LOOKS GREAT!

The high resolution sensor also gives the Panasonic GH5 an advantage concerning the maximum video resolution. The GH5 can record 6K in anamorphic mode up to 30p and has a 6K Photo mode that allows you to record at 30p and save any of the video frames into an 18MP JPG.

The GH5 has an excellent VFR mode with a maximum of 180fps which gives you a slow motion footage up to approximately 6x. The GH5S goes one step further at 240fps.

Panasonic GH5s LOW LIGHT Test Footage – LOOKS GREAT!

DID YOU SEE MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GH5 and GH5s?

Another Panasonic GH5 Test Footage video

Both the GH5 and GH5s use Panasonic’s Depth from Defocus AF system which works with contrast detection but offers a faster speed that traditional contrast based systems. The GH5 uses a faster version with a locking speed of 0.05s. The GH5s is slightly slower with a locking speed of 0.07s but it has better sensitivity in low light (-5Ev vs -4Ev on the GH5).

The two cameras feature a full-sized HDMI port, USB Type C, mic in, headphone out, remote input, flash sync and two SD card slots with UHS-II compatibility.

The GH5s has time code in and out that works via the flash sync port (a cable is provided) which means you can genlock it with broadcast cameras. The Mic in port can also be used as a Line In for other audio sources.

But why is there another GH series camera, was there something fundamentally wrong with the GH5? NOPE! Far from it. The GH5 has built on the reputation of the GH4 as a solid hybrid for stills and video. It has a steadily increased in popularity for both enthusiasts and professional photographers.

The GH5s isn’t an entirely new camera, nor is it an upgrade in the traditional sense – although it does cost more – about $600 more!

Panasonic is not the first camera manufacturer to release an S version, or even two different versions of the same model.

Starting at the top of the specifications list, the GH5s sees a considerable drop in sensor resolution, from 20.3 million pixels on the GH5’s sensor down to 10.2 million pixels.

Does having more pixels on a camera sensor mean better image quality? It has been a long-running argument. Personally, I would rather have fewer, larger sensors instead of more, smaller sensors. The sensors are responsible for gathering light and the larger the sensors the better. I would rather rely on larger sensors to gather light instead of multiple smaller ones. That’s one reason I got the GH5.

You do lose some of the finer image detail you’d expect with more pixels (GH5s) and higher resolution, but when you draft in the moving image and the illusion of persistence of vision then that loss of clarity becomes less of an issue.

Underlining the low light improvement, the GH5s offers a Dual Native sensitivity range.

The new sensor on the GH5s should enable better low light performance.

The new maximum frame rates for the GH5s for Cinema are 4K and 60p, 4K is again 60p, and 1080p leaps to 240p compared with 180p on the GH5. That’s exciting news for slow motion lovers!

The GH5s doesn’t have built-in image stabilization. This was a deal breaker for me. Although I can keep the camera very still for photo and video work, Panasonic’s in-camera image stabilization is 2nd to none. Saving $600 and gaining image stabilization steered me to the GH5. Check out this video filmed with my Panasonic GX85, utilizing in-camera image stabilization. The GX85 is another EXCELLENT micro four thirds mirror less camera by Panasonic. I highly recommended the GX85 and almost bought a 2nd one for dual camera shoots. If a 3rd camera is ever needed, I will make it a Panasonic GX85.

SPECS                                         GH5s                                               GH5

So will you buy the Panasonic GH5 or GH5s?

I’m not too concerned about ISO ratings or low light. As I said, I light my set and don’t plan on filming in dark alleys late at night, so the GH5 is more than perfect. I also love the in camera image stabilizer of the GH5 (not present on the GH5s.) I have never worked with a better in-camera image stabilizer than what is on the GX85 and and GH5! Truly amazing smoothness with little effort. I highly recommend either the GH5 or GH5s. The choice between GH5 or GH5s will depend on if you want in-camera image stabilizer and if filming in very low light is something you do. As I said, the GH5 also does a very nice job in low light. I also saved $600 going with the GH5 over the GH5s.

My lens of choice is the Panasonic 25mm F1.7

A Deep Sand Bed for your saltwater aquarium is one of The Most Effective Filtration Methods.

A Deep Sand Bed for your saltwater aquarium is one of The Most Effective Filtration Methods.

A Deep Sand Bed for your saltwater aquarium is one of The Most Effective Filtration Methods you can have. A deep sand bed is probably one of the most common additions to live rock filtration utilized within the marine aquarium.

What best determines the saltwater tank’s sand bed filtration capabilities is the sand particle size and the depth of the sand bed.

It’s beneficial to utilize sand particles in a deep sand bed which are normally below 0.2mm but above 0.05mm. The smaller the sand particle the better. Never use crushed coral as a sand bed. Crushed coral will trap uneaten fish food and fish waste. This waste will rot in your water, causing all kinds of issues for your saltwater fish and coral.

This is one of the best sand brands for adding a sand bed to your saltwater aquarium. A majority of saltwater aquarium sand beds run between 1″-2″ deep.

No matter what type of substrate (sand) you use in your saltwater aquarium, there will be organisms which will make this their home. A great many of these beneficial organisms are what keep your saltwater aquarium thriving.

The granular size of 0.05mm to 0.2mm being so small allows the various organisms to be able to move around the sand as they wish without being hindered in any way, therefore they are able to consume detritus (fish waste) contained within the sand as long as there are enough organisms actually present.

The sand bed, regardless of depth, must get ‘turned over’. What this means is that while the creatures who call the sand bed their home are busy burrowing around looking for food to eat the sand is actually being moved around due to their burrowing activities. Turning over a sand bed is very important, as it stops any dead areas from forming. Another important aspect of turning over a sand bed is that saltwater can penetrate very slowly through the sand bed, fostering further bacterial colonization.

Live sand is sand which is full of the valuable life which all saltwater aquariums need. It goes without saying that LIVE SAND is also deep within the oceans. Live sand can be used in a deep sand bed as long as the particle size is correct.

When a sand bed starts to get deeper than 2+ inches, then anaerobic areas will start to form. Anaerobic areas in a sand bed are areas which are very low in oxygen content, this is because the oxygen is being used by the aerobic bacteria above. Water flow through these lower areas occurs partly because of the burrowing activities of the organisms which live in the sand, but is primarily due to an activity called diffusion. All fluids have a tendency to perform diffusion. Diffusion is basically where two amounts of the same fluid which contain a different amount of chemicals balance themselves out over time via utilizing the movement of molecules.

It is these anaerobic areas which allow for denitrifying bacteria to function and convert nitrate into nitrogen gas, which will escape the aquarium at the water surface.

So an effective deep sand bed has the ability, because of grain size, depth and various organisms, to permit both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria to co-exist and continuously break down matter all the way through to the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen gas.

When a deep sand bed is combined with live rock in the marine aquarium, any solid waste which settles upon the sand is broken down via the deep sand bed and the rest is cycled via the live rock’s excellent filtration capabilities – a match made in heaven.

Leaving live rock out of the equation though when a deep sand bed matures the following will happen:

  1. Waste is broken down when it lands upon the surface of the bed either via bacterial processing or via organism consumption.
  2. The upper layer is so oxygen rich that ammonia and nitrite is converted into nitrate.
  3. At the same time the nitrate concentration is being converted into nitrogen gas the nitrate created in the upper layers is ‘pulled’ down into the lower layers of the sand bed.
  4. When the nitrate reaches the lower levels it is converted into nitrogen gas.
  5. The nitrogen gas which is created rises through the sand and diffuses into the water column before being released into the air at the water surface.
  6. The cycle continues.

A deep sand bed has a never ending biological filtration cycle which is complete all the way through to the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen gas. The majority of other filtration methods such as water changes or tank filters help to filter the saltwater tank.

In a deep sand bed nitrate levels can be kept so low that even professional water test kits can struggle to achieve a reading (provided that other aquarium management techniques are adequate). This is very beneficial to a saltwater tank when maintaining the lives sensitive creatures, from fish to coral to microscopic organisms in the water.

Another benefit of a deep sand bed (3 or more inches) is the continuous release of planktonic larvae. These come from the reproductive activities of the organisms within the sand bed. Along with the very low nitrate levels which can be achieved there could also be a continuous supply of fresh food which is beneficial if you are keeping corals which require feeding. For this reason it is important that if the sand bed is not located in the display aquarium but in a sump, it is placed after the skimmer otherwise this fresh food could be skimmed out of the water.

The best sand for a saltwater aquarium deep sand bed is CARIB SEABuilding a deep sand bed is actually quite a simple process but it does depend upon where you are with your aquarium, i.e. are you upgrading an existing system or implementing a new one.

It is recommended you do not add more than 1 inch of sand depth per month to an existing saltwater aquarium sand bed. The reason for this is that you need to give the organisms (which already exist in your existing sand) time to move upwards in the sand. If you add, say, 4 inches of sand at one time, then the organisms would not have had the chance to climb to safety before their oxygen ran out.

A better way is to actually remove any existing sand from the system and start with a fresh sand bed.

Building a sand bed from scratch rather than upgrading really is a simple task to undertake. All you do is purchase the sand of the correct granular size, clean it and put it into your aquarium around the live rock up to the required depth. Once you have added the sand you will need to seed the sand bed with some organisms.

With the introduction of the above and the eventual migration of creatures from the live rock into the sand all you have to do is let good old mother nature get to work.

If you are adding sand into an established tank then you will probably experience a small dust storm. This can easily be removed via mechanical filtration and any dust which has settled on either the corals or live rock can easily be blown off.

Lets go over a few tips.

  1. Small size sand grains below 0.2mm and above 0.05mm must be used. Using sand of the correct size will allow the substrate to be turned over.
  2. Some heavier material (Small live rock no larger than 1cm) may need to be placed on top of the sand if you have a high flow aquarium otherwise the sand will literally blow away and you will have a water based sand storm to deal with.
  3. The depth should be greater than 3 inches to create the required anaerobic areas which are essential for the conversion of nitrate to nitrogen gas. The average depth in the majority of aquariums is between 4 and 6 inches as no benefit has been seen in sand beds greater in depth than this.
  4. Diversity and population will decide if a deep sand bed will filter effectively. The sand bed should be alive with various types of life (copepods, amphipods, brittle stars, bristle worms etc). There are literally hundreds of different species which dwell in and around sand beds serving similar and different roles. The higher the population of organisms the better the sand bed will be able to filter which makes us happy as aquarists.
  5. Increase diversity whenever possible – we do not wish one or two species to become dominant.
  6. Avoid fish and other animals which feed upon life in and on the sand bed as in no time at all the life forms could be decimated. This includes sand sifting star fish.
Passive sand sifters are a good idea as they help to keep the upper levels clear as well as promoting the re-growth of bacteria in these areas. I recommend that you keep the addition of these sand sifters low as they may remove the food source from getting to other organisms in the sand bed.
  7. Feed the organisms in the sand bed. Feeding increases both diversity and the population. A deep sand bed can deal with a large amount of food. When I say food I do not mean placing fish food etc on the sand bed I mean the food in the water, however feeding frozen fish food to the sand bed is good when you first start the bed as it increases the population. Do not just give the sand bed clean filtered, skimmed water ensure that it does get water which is dirty – i.e. un-filtered and un-skimmed.

A deep sand bed combined with a live rock filtration system is one of the best natural filtration methods currently available to the marine / saltwater aquarium.

Why your YouTube channel isn’t growing and how to fix it

Why your YouTube channel isn’t growing and how to fix it

4 Things To Check If Your YouTube Channel Isn’t Growing

A lot of YouTubers are struggling to get more subscribers and views. If you check these four things in YouTube Analytics, you can find out exactly why your channel isn’t growing. You can fix the issues! All these areas I talk about can be found in your YouTube dashboard stats area.

1. Audience Retention

The first thing to check is Audience Retention. This metric tells you how long your viewers watch your videos on average. If most of your videos are around 25% to 50% viewing time or higher, you’re doing a good job engaging your viewers.

You’ll probably have a couple of videos that fall under the 25% mark. That typically happens with longer videos. You can click on the titles of those videos to see the exact points where viewers drop off. This tells you exactly what to improve in your videos to keep them on board. This can be viewed per video by clicking on each video individually in the dashboard statistics area of your YouTube channel.

If your average audience retention is low, your most important job is to increase it. Edit out all the boring parts of your YouTube video. For example, if you are doing an unboxing video, no one needs to see you spend 30 seconds taking it out of the box it was shipped to you in from UPS. Edit the video to include maybe 3 seconds of you taking it out of the brown shipping box. Make sure your presentation is enthusiastic and energetic. And always deliver value in every video to keep your audience engaged and always be yourself.

how to get more youtube subscribers and views why your youtube channel isn't growing

2. Traffic Sources

One of the most important reports ever is the Traffic sources report. This tells you how people discover your YouTube videos.

Whenever someone tells me they don’t get a lot of new subscribers, this is usually where the real problem is. Often times, their #1 traffic source is Browse features, which is just their subscriptions and video recommendations on the homepage of YouTube. Those are people who already know you! These are the recommended videos that come up and your videos will come up for your current viewers!

You want your YouTube traffic to come from suggested videos, YouTube search and External. External, meaning, from links on websites or other YouTube channels. If you have friends with YouTube channels, see if they can put a link in their video description to your channel. This will help drive traffic whether people read the link or not.

If those factors combined don’t make up for at least 50% of your traffic or if YouTube Search or Suggested videos are ridiculously low, you need to focus on that more.

Click on YouTube search to find out what keywords your viewers type to find your videos. Are those the keywords you really want to be found on? If not, try optimizing your video descriptions and tags to improve your visibility for other keywords. If you do this right, this will also help your views from Suggested videos.

3. SEO Score

Speaking of getting found on YouTube: you should install the free VidIQ plug-in for Google Chrome in order to find out the SEO-score for your videos.

The SEO-score is an indicator that tells you how well your video ranks in the search results. You definitely want this to be a score over 50, and preferably even close to 70 or 80.

If your SEO-score is very low, make sure you know what keywords you want to be found on. Include them in your descriptions and tags. And use the plug-in to see which keywords people actually search for.

4. Titles and Thumbnails

Titles and thumbnails are truly underrated factors that determine whether or not someone will click on your video or not. A good title and thumbnail will spark the viewer’s curiosity and make them want to find out more about your YouTube video.

You should use a custom thumbnail for your videos. Make sure your thumbnail really stands out and they are very visible on a smaller size.

Use titles that entice the viewer to click. Which video title would you rather click on?

In Conclusion:

Whenever I look at a channel that doesn’t get a lot of subscribers and views, in 99.9% of the times, the problems lie in one or more of these factors. I hope that by pointing them out to you, you’ll at least be able to identify the real issues on your channel. Let me know what you discover in your metrics!

Why millennials are hated

Why millennials are hated

A millennial is a person born from the years 1982 and 2004. Millennials are generally considered to be self-absorbed and spoiled. Even if the spoiling is not their fault, they still get blamed for being shallow.

Why are millennials hated? That sounds harsh, but true. Each previous era knows more than the next, or so it seems. Back in my day, you kids wouldn’t have lasted. Times were harder when we were kids! Remember those lines?

Turns out everyone has problems whether you realize it or not, but millennials seem to have more “problems” than anyone else.

Not all millennials are spoiled rotten (always challenging authority) but most are.

millennials still act like kids in their mid to late twenties.

What others say about millennial personality:

  • I’m seeing severe arrested development with this group. They still act like kids in their mid to late twenties. Still living at home, have not had even one significant LTR, don’t own cars, party all he time, work shitty jobs. They’re in limbo between adolescence and adulthood. I can’t stand the 30 y/o tattooed & bearded hipsters who skateboard as a means of transportation.

  • Millennials seem to think “ageism” is acceptable. The 20th century never happened for them, and they dismiss it all as worthless history. No lessons learned from the Depression, WW2 or Vietnam.

  • Thoreau, Ghandi and MLK are old relics with nothing to offer.

  • No concern as to what life was like for minority classes. That’s all ancient history.

  • Most millennials whine, “Oh I was told to do this specific task and only that.” Or “The rules change every day. I don’t know what to do!” So, they can’t do two things at once? They can’t use reasoning skills to fill in the gaps from their job training, in order to help a customer? For real!? I know chewing gum and deciding on takeout from GrubHub is challenging, but come on now! They constantly peck away on their iPhones. When I snap them out of their privileged stupor, they just stare at me. “What did I do?” It’s what they’re not doing, namely the job!

  • Millennials were bribed to make good grades. Millennials were raised to believe everyone is a winner. Everybody wants to market to the millennial age group. Zuckerberg and others are young, rich and powerful. Old people have to listen to them, work for them, and appeal to them.

But soon the Millennials will be old and no longer the desired demographic. Zuckerberg’s generation will be replaced. It happens to the best of us.

On the bright side, as a GenXer and early “pioneer” of the WWW, I can work circles around these Millennials. They may know the latest apps and trends, but they have no foundation or sense of the future. They really don’t know how to do ANYTHING beyond clicking on buttons in dumbed down apps. No common sense for most millennials, sorry to report. I have worked with many and only 5% have proven me wrong, sorry to say.

millennials are spoiled and hated

Several millennials are creatives, or pretend to be. They took a degree, or a career track job as a back up. Because millennials were raised by helicopter cheerleaders, they not only have the typical bad millennial work habits, they also think they can support themselves as spoken word artists if they just get that one break.

In fairness, the smarter ones are willing to take the barista jobs and have a better attitude towards work and customers (not least because it affects the tip jar). Millennials also are willing to pare down their lifestyle/materialism.

I don’t understand the problem. If millennials by and large are missing days or coming in late or busy with social media instead of their work, why don’t the supervisors fire them and replace them with older people. Many of us are out of work, and we wouldn’t present the boss with these difficulties.

To put it another way, why hire millennials if your experience tells you they will be a pain in the ass?

They definitely cannot stop looking at their phones. Some have no work ethic, but I work in a small town at the moment and I see some that are hard-working and good workers.

Not to mention how many of the female members of this cohort feel the need to either lay on the vocal fry along with their ‘What EV’ attitude, or talk in teensy baby voices. Grow up.

millennials hipsters

A word from a millennial:

I was born in 1983, and my father taught me at a young age that you don’t deserve to get a medal if you didn’t actually do any work. That lesson applies here, too. These people expect to be rewarded for just showing up. This is why even I often find it difficult to deal with millennials; it’s hard trying to have a conversation with someone whose nose is always stuck in an iPhone.

It seems like with this generation the kids and teens make more decisions than the parents do. What happened to parents with a back bone? Let’s bring back good ol’ punishments and maybe the people we are producing won’t turn out so bossy and entitled. In fact, it is mainly the parents’ fault that kids are turning out the way they are. The parents claim that they just can’t get control of them, or there is no point in punishing them because they are just going to do what they want either way. Well I am calling for a stop to that. What is the point in being the adult in the relationship if you refuse to enforce your adulthood?

And just remember, these rules do not only apply to Millennials specifically, but to a few ages just before them, and all ages after them. Mix and match the “Millennial signal” to identify if a friend or family member is suffering from Maximum Millennial Syndrome today. Brace yourselves for the coming generation, the children of the millennials. And as television always prompts one to say, “Can it get any worse?”

One last note, what’s up with the trendy hipster beards and trendy beers?

I write about anything techy, music, photography, artsy and whatever I think you may find interesting.

Best blender for smoothies – NutriBullet Pro – How to lose weight fast

Best blender for smoothies – NutriBullet Pro – How to lose weight fast

The best blender for smoothies would have to be the nutribullet line of blenders, preferably the nutribullet pro. This is definitely the best money I ever spent!

I was never into snacking or eating bad but wanted an alternative for healthy food mainly due to high cholesterol (it’s just how my body is.) Also, there are times I don’t feel like making anything for dinner and I never eat fast food.

I have friends and family who are overweight from eating fast food every other day or every day at times. Also, they drink pop / soda, have too much sugar, donuts, cake, cookies, high fructose corn syrup, and all that stuff will hurt your health.

I’m no health expert by any means but I know what not to eat. Protein is very important and the average person should have no more than 60 grams of fat a day! People think counting calories is the thing to do. Start counting the fat and you’ll see large weight loss fast.

Did you know the average italian beef sandwich has around 55 grams of fat? That’s your entire day of fat. Technically if you wanted to lose weight, you would eat this and nothing else with fat the entire day.

best blender for smoothies

The biggest reason I got this smoothie blender is convenience. I don’t feel like making food at times and they taste great. The bonus is they’re healthy for you!

Start drinking protein shakes such as these. You don’t have to be a muscle head to drink protein shakes. I never thought I would drink them but these are awesome.

Labrada protein shakes are delivered to my door each month via amazon. It’s what I drink each morning for breakfast and they’re filling. If I want a snack later at night, instead of pop / soda, I’ll grab another one of these chocolate smoothies. I was surprised how great the Labrada brand is. These Labrada smoothies have 40 grams of protein, are pre-made and taste great! 40 grams protein is half the amount the average person needs daily. These protein shakes contain zero sugar but are sweet and taste like chocolate milk…not some nasty powder drink. Try them out! There are a few different flavors.

I was looking at blenders for smoothies and my cousin recommended the nutribullet pro. She has the nutribullet pro at home and the nutribullet at work.

nutribullet pro is the best blender for healthy smoothieMaking a smoothie for dinner or lunch with the nutribullet pro couldn’t be easier, faster or more fun. First time using it I had a smoothie within 5 minutes. The box includes a lot of different smoothie recipes based on your goal…toxin removal, weight loss, energy boost, etc.

My first smoothie included a banana, frozen strawberries, handful of spinach leaves, 1/2 cup of milk and oats. I also threw in a small orange, peel and all. Within seconds everything was blended with the 900w motor!

The smoothie tasted great and was very filling, with absolutely no pulp or solid particles. I got my fruit and veggies for the day. Tonight I will do the same, throwing in some nuts and apple (no apple core.)

Cleanup took about 30 seconds. All you need to do is wash the cup you drank from, which is also the container it blends in.

I absolutely love this nutribullet and will be buying the smaller one for work for easy quick healthy lunches. Now I don’t have to feel guilty for having a burger or pasta for dinner. I plan on half my week being smoothies once a day. They are filling and taste great!

By the way, I didn’t taste the spinach at all…mainly banana and strawberry!

Check out the reviews and get a nutribullet blender here on Amazon. There are a few to choose from. I chose the nutribullet 900 since it was larger and more powerful. I will be purchasing the $29.99 model for work.

It’s obviously better to eat more food with protein with less fat content. Start counting your fat and you will be amazed how much you take in daily. Sugar converts to fat instantly so sugars and cookies and cakes should be avoided. Cheating here and there is fine.

I add this protein powder by Labrada to the smoothie mix.

I love bread but don’t have it as much. Carbs break down into sugar very fast and pack on the weight. I love bread but got used to not having it.

Start eating less sugar products like cookies or cake or pastry. Cut back on sugar. I still have sugar in my coffee and will never give that up. It’s all about moderation.

Stop drinking pop / soda. You will lose about 5 pounds in a week after you stop drinking soft drinks.

Check out how I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks with no exercise!

I write about anything techy, music, photography, artsy and whatever I think you may find interesting.

deep sand bed benefits in reef tank

deep sand bed benefits in reef tank

A deep sand bed is commonly defined as a bed of fine sand with a minimum depth of four to six inches which ensures that a portion of the sand at the bottom will not be exposed to significant circulation of water. An established deep sand bed consists of sand populated with bacteria, algae and other marine organisms such as worms, crabs, snails and stars. The creatures burrow and overturn the top two to three inches of sand in search of food, which causes water to circulate deeper in the sand than it would if the creatures were not present.

Check out my saltwater aquarium care channel on YouTube, Rotter Tube Reef

Deep sand beds may be made of a variety of materials, but typically fine or “superfine” sand is used, such as carib sea brand, with a grain size between 1 mm and 0.05 mm. A larger particle size increases circulation, which in turn requires greater depth to establish anaerobic areas. Larger particles can also inhibit the burrowing of small animals, which would limit circulation into the bed. Additionally, larger particles (2 mm or larger) are prone to detritus accumulation (fish waste), which necessitates periodic siphon cleaning.

A finer, smaller grain sand such as carib sea is recommended for saltwater aquariums. A finer sand will not trap fish waste and uneaten fish food and also benefits anaerobic bacteria, which feeds on nitrates in the very low oxygen areas of your aquarium. Anaerobic bacteria live in low oxygen to no oxygen areas of your saltwater tank (deep sand beds have little to no oxygen in the deeper levels of sand.)

Read on to discover what kind of sand is best for your salt water aquarium (also known as marine aquarium) and get the truth about how deep your sand bed should be.

A shallow sand bed (2″ or less depth) has advantages and disadvantages over deep sand beds. To help decide what you need, you need to decide what you want to achieve.

A shallow sand bed measuring 1.5″ to 2″ deep with a fine grade sand is great for a natural looking, brilliant sand bed. The CaribSea Fiji Pink and Aragamax are the two most popular fine grade sands. The fine particle size is great for filtration because there are tons of surface area for bacteria to grow on. A shallow bed is easy to keep clean and will not clog up with detritus (fish waste.) Because the sand is fine and lightweight, it can get blown around easily in reef aquariums with high water flow and you can end up with bare spots on the bottom of the tank. This is easily-fixed by adjusting your power heads in your aquarium.

Using a deep sand bed with fine grain sand is great because of the increased biological filtration.Using a deep sand bed with fine grain sand is great because of the increased biological filtration. A deep sand bed will promote both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria helping to break down waste and remove nitrates from your saltwater tank. A deep sand bed is typically 6″ to 8″ deep. Within the first 2″ to 3″, aerobic bacteria will thrive and help breakdown waste and produce nitrates. As you go deeper into the sand bad, the water will be less oxygenated and therefore anaerobic bacteria will thrive. This type of bacteria is very efficient at denitrification which will turn nitrate into nitrogen gas.

The drawback to a DSB (deep sand bed) is that you need much more sand and it takes up a significant portion of your aquarium. Additionally, there is also the potential for pockets of poisonous hydrogen sulfide to develop if there are not enough organisms to keep the sand bed stirred and clean. Allowing a deep sand bed to become stagnant and full of detritus will eventually cause a big problem in your tank so be sure to maintain a solid clean-up crew with animals such as nassarius snails, sand sifting gobies and starfish, sea cucumbers, conchs and even hermit crabs.

With coarser sand (larger sand grain), you will have less surface area for bacteria to grow on and a higher chance of detritus getting trapped in the sand. The advantages are that because it is heavier, larger grain sand does not get blown around your saltwater aquarium easily and you are less likely to have bare spots at the bottom of your aquarium. Coarser grain sand can also be cleaned with a gravel vacuum during water changes so it is easy to keep clean and free of detritus.

A coarse grain sand bed that is more than 2″ to 3″ inches deep is a dangerous combination because it will quickly become clogged with detritus and increase the nitrate in your tank. Use a fine sand for deep sand bed setup in your saltwater aquarium. You will also have a much greater chance of getting toxic pockets of harmful gas and it is difficult to keep clean, even with a hefty clean-up crew if a larger grain sand is used.

how to lower nitrates with a deep sand bed in saltwater tankOnce you have decided on the type of sand bed you want, you will have some options when it comes the appearance and color of the sand. CaribSea Aragamax and Oolite sand have sort of become the standard for fine grade sand. Both are fine, beige-colored sands that are uniform in color and size.

The CaribSea Fiji Pink and Bimini are also beige colored, fine grade sand with small bits of pink mixed in which gives it a very unique and natural look.

I have 200 pounds of this CaribSea Fiji pink sand in my 125 gallon saltwater aquarium.

With so many choices and the dramatic way sand can transform the appearance of an aquarium, you now see how this is really a worthwhile topic to consider while planning your aquarium build.

Deep Sand Bed Pros– a great big sponge for absorbing phosphates and removing nitrates.

Deep Sand Bed Cons– Deep sand beds will need to be completely replaced at some point. Some reef keepers have kept deep sand beds for 8-10 years. NEVER stir or vacuum through a deep sand bed! This will kill microscopic life that keeps your saltwater tank healthy!

How to make hard boiled eggs that peel easily every time.

How to make hard boiled eggs that peel easily every time.

Making hard boiled eggs that peel easily is actually very easy to do.

The two most frustrating things about cooking hard-boiled eggs: the yolk isn’t pretty and the shell is difficult to get off. Check out how easy it is to get hard boiled eggs perfect at home every time.

  1. Get a pot to boil the eggs in.
  2. Add water to the pot. Amount of water doesn’t matter, as long as eggs are mostly underwater or completely underwater.
  3. Put the eggs in the pot after you add water. adding the eggs at this time prevents you from burning your fingers or having to use a utensil to drop them in once the water boils (risking breaking them.)
  4. Regardless of the amount of eggs or size of pot, set timer for 10 minutes ONCE THE WATER COMES TO A BOIL.
  5. After boiling eggs for 10 minutes, empty the pot and add cold water, letting the eggs sit in the cold water for at least 20 minutes.
  6. The eggs will peel so easily the shells literally fall right off.
  7. If you want the yolk a little less firm, decrease boiling time by a minute until you find what works for you. 10 minutes provides the perfect yolk firmness for most.

HEALTH TIP

When adding eggs to the water, if they float, they are bad. DO NOT USE THEM!

Making hard boiled eggs is something I find a lot of people do not know how to do. By the way, you make pasta the same way…time for 10 minutes after water boils.

Eggs are among the healthiest foods you can eat. They are rich in high-quality protein, healthy fats and many essential vitamins and minerals. Eggs also have a few unique properties that make them egg-ceptionally weight loss friendly. Eggs are a killer weight loss food.

how to make hard boiled eggs perfectlyOne large egg contains only about 78 calories, yet is very high in nutrients. Egg yolks are especially nutritious. An egg meal commonly consists of about 2–4 eggs. Three large boiled eggs contain less than 240 calories. One large egg contains about 78 calories. A meal consisting of 3 boiled eggs and vegetables contains only about 300 calories.

Eggs contain all the essential amino acids, and in the right ratios. This means your body can easily use the protein in eggs for maintenance and metabolism. Eating a high-protein diet has been shown to boost metabolism by up to 80–100 calories a day.

A high-protein diet may boost your metabolism by up to 80–100 calories per day, since extra energy is needed to help metabolize the protein in foods.

One hard boiled egg has 6 grams protein. The average person should have 56 grams per day protein, or 0.36 grams per pound of body weight.

Instead of watching calories, watch your fat intake. The average person should take in NO MORE THAN 60 grams of fat a day. Eggs are very low in fat and great for protein!

Make hard boiled eggs the night before work, taking 3 with you for breakfast while at your desk.

Dyson rechargeable V8 vacuum battery dying and solution. Where to buy a replacement Dyson battery.

Dyson rechargeable V8 vacuum battery dying and solution. Where to buy a replacement Dyson battery.

Is your Dyson rechargeable V8 vacuum battery not holding the charge it used to? Is your Dyson vacuum dying sooner than it was between charges? This happened to me after a year of owning the Dyson V8 Absolute rechargeable vacuum. I found a Dyson v8 absolute battery replacement that lasts longer than the battery that came in the Dyson V8!

dyson v8 absolute rechargeable battery dyingThere are 2 speeds on the Dyson V8 vacuum, which is standard and high power. I always vacuum carpet on high power, as it gets up all the dust and dog hair on that setting. We have a German Shepherd (GSD.)

With the high setting, the Dyson V8 Absolute lasts about 10 minutes. I was able to vacuum the living room and dining room on a full charge.

After a year, I noticed the Dyson battery lasted about 2 minutes or less on a full charge. The Dyson battery was losing its charge.

I ordered a 3rd party battery from Amazon for the Dyson V8 Absolute and easily installed it yesterday. This replacement battery for my Dyson V8 Absolute lasts twice as long as the Dyson battery!

The Dyson V8 has a 2500 mAh battery, while the 3rd party battery has a 3800 mAh, which means it lasts longer!

How long does the new Dyson battery last?  I was able to vacuum the entire house, including the 2nd floor, minus one of the bedrooms, on one charge using the highest power setting. This includes all rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, hallways, etc. I LOVE THIS BATTERY and highly recommend it!

dyson v8 absolute replacement batteryThe Dyson V8 replacement battery is easy to install, comes with a small screwdriver, 3 screws and 2 replacement air filters for your Dyson vacuum. I used the same screws already in my Dyson V8 Absolute vacuum and had no issues. Total installation took about 5 minutes. You will need to remove the dirt catch container from the vacuum to replace the battery, which is easy to do. If you have any questions, ask.

This battery is much less expensive and lasts much longer than the battery Dyson vacuums come with.

The Powilling 21.6V 3.5Ah Lithium-Ion Battery Replacements for Dyson V8 Cordless Handheld Vacuum Dyson V8 Absolute(with Dyson Vacuum Parts, HEPA Post&Pre-Filter V8 Kit, Dyson V8 Animal Replace Filter Kit)

On a side note, we have always had great vacuums for the house, even by the big name brands. Vacuums had to be replaced every couple years.

I always thought of trying the Dyson vacuums but never wanted to spend that kind of money. I was already spending about $200 every 2 years roughly on a vacuum, so why not spend $150 more and see if Dyson is up to the hype. After thinking about it for weeks I took the plunge and will not ever own anything but a Dyson again. I’m not getting paid to say this.

I will never have anything other than a Dyson! I can’t believe the amount of dirt and hair collected by these powerful vacuums! Dyson is by far the best vacuum brand I have ever used and will never use anything else. They’re made incredibly well and completely blow away the competition. If you get one of these vacuums, you’ll see what I mean when emptying the container. Each vacuum session, every few days, results in a solid dust bunny the size of a softball, filled with mass hair and dirt.

CHECK OUT THIS DYSON V8 REPLACEMENT BATTERY ON AMAZON

I highly recommend Dyson vacuums!

What is empathy? What is an empath? Stop trying to fix people!

What is empathy? What is an empath? Emotion researchers define empathy as the ability to sense other people’s emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling.

Empathy is an awareness of the feelings and emotions of other people. It is a key element of Emotional Intelligence; the link between self and others. Compassion can be synonymous with empathy. Empathy is how we, as individuals, understand what others are experiencing as if we were feeling it ourselves. Have you ever heard the word Empath? There you go.

What is an Empath? An Empath can absorb other people’s emotions and/or physical symptoms because of their high sensitivities. Empaths filter the world through their intuition and “strong gut feelings.” It is very easy for an empath to “read” people but it goes much deeper than that.

When overwhelmed with exposure to stressful emotions, empaths can have panic attacks, depression, chronic fatigue and many physical symptoms that defy traditional medical diagnosis. Empaths are exhausted easily and are often tested for sleep deprivation, thyroid issues and poor nutrition.

2 MAIN TYPES OF EMPATHY:

“Affective empathy” refers to the sensations and feelings we get in response to others’ emotions. This can include mirroring what that person is feeling, or just feeling stressed when we detect another’s fear or anxiety.

“Cognitive empathy,” sometimes called “perspective taking,” refers to our ability to identify and understand other people’s emotions.

I have the ability to feel both types of empathy. It’s nothing I care to talk about with most people, as most people don’t understand or may think it’s ridiculous.

I am a highly sensitive person (HSP) and an empath. When I say highly sensitive person, I don’t mean cry at movies. It’s the ability to pickup on emotions or sensations of others easily. It took me years to realize this.

In my late teens I walked into a pawn shop with a friend. After entering, I had an overwhelming feeling. I could not explain the rush of emotions. It’s as if I was watched by sets of eyes and stressed out about many things all at once. It was the energy from that pawn shop. Realize that nothing good comes from a pawn shop. People get rid of things due to death in the family, financial issues, etc.

Empathy may sound crazy to some but it is very real.

I pick up on the emotions and energy of others naturally. This isn’t being psychic. I can see right through people easily, and this includes over the phone, texts and emails.

Scientists have speculated that some aspects of empathy can be traced to mirror neurons. Mirror neurons are cells in the brain that fire when we observe someone perform an action in much the same way that we would perform the same action.

I help others in need, and even try to fix them. Helping people or “fixing people” takes an enormous amount of energy.

I was always tired and stressed. Constant racing thoughts and stress prevented me from relaxing. I have taken on someone else’s problems and have unwillingly made them my own without realizing it. This is the curse of those with empathy.

It has always been hard to walk away from someone with a problem. I always felt the need to help. What if they don’t want help? What if they don’t want to listen? You just need to stop and walk away. Stop trying to fix people who don’t want to be fixed!

You can’t fix people. It’s not you, it’s them. It’s their problem, not yours. If they are willing to talk and listen and have a conversation, that’s great. If not, there’s nothing you can do.

I have realized, by being incredibly tired, hurt and stressed, that you can’t fix people who don’t want to be fixed. People have issues they need to work out and most of the time it has nothing to do with you. TAKE CARE OF YOU! This is hard to do, but when you’re fed up, you’ll learn fast.

Even at work, most people long for you to listen with compassion, the cornerstone of empathy. They want you to sense their discomfort or distress especially when they struggle articulating how they feel.

Humans desire to be seen and understood beyond their words. Empathy demonstrates you care. Unfortunately, many people take advantage of empaths, or, ones with empathy and compassion.

You can experience empathy by noticing a person’s body language and voice, but acute sensitivity includes being open to the emotional energy vibrating between you.

You might feel this energy in your heart or gut. You sense not only what people feel but also what they need. You just know. You can tell when they need attention, acknowledgment, or an offer of help. You grasp when they want you to back off and give them space or when they want you to quietly stand by. You know when they are impatient to move on or if they want to take more time.

The problem comes into play when you’re dealing with someone in a bad mood, accusatory or just all-around mean for some reason. The empathetic person cares about their friend or family member and wants to help, but the attempts and words fall on def ears. This hurts the caring empath, with them feeling it’s their fault most of the time. This is toxic and not fair to the person trying to help.

trying to help people who don't want help is exhausting

It’s difficult for those with empathy to be around non empathetic people, since those people can rarely help the empath. Most people don’t know when others need help, or, don’t even care. This hurts highly sensitive people (HSP), or empaths. Empaths rarely receive help from others for this reason. People just don’t know or don’t care to understand. Some people say they care but actions always speak louder than words.

Empathetic Reactivity – When too much empathy is bad

With empathy, you will feel their stress, anxiety and anger in your body. You might feel their pain emotionally and physically. If you let these emotions sit, your body and mind can be emotionally hijacked. You will become stressed, lonely and depressed…many times you’ll never know why you feel these emotions.

Not only will this lead to burnout, but you can break the bond of trust you were hoping to strengthen. You feel the need to fix their problems and make them feel better.

Unless people want your help, your intrusive reaction will push them away no matter the value of your intention. They may feel disrespected. You “being supportive” could damage their sense of safety and trust. They no longer feel they can fully express themselves with you.

As soon as you notice that you are emotionally reacting:

Relax – breath and release the tension in your body.

Detach – clear your mind of all thoughts.

Center – drop your awareness to the center of your body just below your navel. Feel yourself breathe. This helps to clear the mind.

Focus – choose one or two keywords that represent how you want to feel. Feeling curiosity and compassion foster non-reactive empathy.

When your own emotions distract you, breathe and recall your keywords to maintain trust and connection. Allowing others the safe expression of emotions could help them diffuse their feelings and see a possible path forward.

Being empathetic towards others is a gift, but usually, a curse to you. Realize it is ok to get away and take time for yourself. The world will not end and problems will still be there when you return. This is something I need to realize everyday and am getting better at.

You can’t fix or help people who don’t want it. I hope this helps to help yourself.

Phone charger replacements

Phone charger replacements

A phone charger is a plug that goes right into your phone or ipad. This is a plug that goes right in you do not need to do any special things to the charger or the phone to make this charger work to charge your device. You can purchase many 3rd party chargers for various phones and tablets at the fraction of the cost of one by say, Apple. You should carry this charger at all times because your phone might die from not having any battery left if you do not charge it.

This charger just plugs right into an outlet, power strip. The max percentage that is aloud to charge on your phone or ipad and even a computer is 100% of power to go into your device that you have. This device that you have is your responsibility to charge.

It’s best to let your device discharge to 0% to the point it turns off, then charge to 100% without ever removing it from the outlet. This will help guarantee a longer battery life. I do this once a month.

Buy an extra charger or two or three. I keep one at home, one next to the bed, one in the car and one at work. If it is dead you are going to be saying “dang it.”

Where to buy an apple computer cheap

Where to buy an apple computer cheap

How to buy an apple computer for a lower price. If you’re looking for a mac, there are a few ways you can get them cheaper without going to craigslist for someone’s used Apple computer.

Yes, Apple computers, or macs, are expensive. Apple computers are expensive for a reason. THEY WORK! I’m a tech geek and have tinkered on pc’s, having built my own computers for about 25 years. I never thought I would buy a mac but after the headaches with windows and all their issues, I gave up. I have used Apple computers and products in my studio since 2009 and will never go back to pc. Apple products just work, which allows me to focus on my work and art.

Someone once told me if you can get passed the initial sticker shock of how expensive Apple computers are, you will be fine, and you will never look back. They were right.

how to buy apple computers cheap

I’m a video editor and audio engineer. My macs cut through 4k video like butter. PC’s always stalled out, had software issues and began to lag over time. Microsoft charges for operating system updates that are buggy. Apple software updates, including the full operating system updates, are always free from the App store.

One huge thing to mention is that all Apple products are designed and built under one roof, unlike Microsoft. There are multiple pc vendors designing their own products in hopes they will work with windows.

Another reason Apple is superior to pc is the operating system. Windows utilizes a registry, which is easily corrupted, while Apple’s operating system is Unix – based…a MUCH BETTER operating system that is faster and cleaner.

So if you’re in the market for a mac, I can assure you that you will enjoy it, having much less headaches than you would with a pc. I’m not an apple fan boy by any means; I simply love their products and THEY JUST WORK!

You’ll always find the highest price at the Apple store or best buy, with some exceptions online at the Apple store. Apple products maintain their value from release date to the day discontinued, unlike a pc or used car.

HOW TO GET AN APPLE COMPUTER CHEAP:

Apple on Amazon

Amazon has deals at times on Apple products so make sure to check them out. They sell anything Apple including macbooks, iPads, iMacs and Apple accessories for iphones, Apple watches and anything Apple.

Apple Education Store

Students, teachers, and education staff can save up to $200 on Macs by purchasing through the Apple Education Store. With these price reductions, buying through Apple can be a good deal, even though you will pay sales tax. Ground shipping is always free with a Mac purchase (from any of the Apple Stores). The best time for a student to purchase is in the summer months, when Apple usually runs a back-to-school promotion. For a few years now, Apple’s been offering students a $100 Apple Store Gift Card with the purchase of a Mac, and a $50 Apple Store Gift Card with the purchase of a qualifying iPad or iPhone.

Apple Refurbs

The Apple-Certified Refurbished Mac Department is the other big way to buy from Apple and save. Getting a great deal on a refurb can have a lot to do with timing. Apple refurbs are current or previous generation models that have been tested, refurbished, and re-certified but most of these apple computers and devices are brand new, never used. Anything from ipads to iphones, imac computers and macbooks are available on the refurbished section of the Apple store. They carry the same one-year, extendable warranty as regular Macs. These purchases also often qualify for printer rebates, and students can purchase refurbs through the education store to get the gift card. Don’t let the word REFURBISHED scare you. All products are sealed and new, with the buyer unable to tell if they’re off the shelf in the store or not. I purchased my imac, ipad and even an iphone this way, saving roughly 30% on each! Inventory changes almost daily with so many people purchasing from this section of Apple.

Apple’s Black Friday

This is the exception to the rule. The one time of year you can find variations in pricing at the Apple Store is on Black Friday. Sadly, these sales usually consist of the same 5 percent off deals year after year, so if you’re looking to score a good deal on a Mac on Black Friday, we recommend shopping anywhere but the Apple Store. Resist the siren’s call of the Apple Store’s shining halls and come to us for the best online deals.

I hope this helps you in making a purchase and where to get said purchase. If you have any questions, let me know! Thanks for reading!

I write about anything techy, music, photography, artsy and whatever I think you may find interesting.

How to Measure Salinity in a Saltwater Aquarium using a refractometer.

How to Measure Salinity in a Saltwater Aquarium using a refractometer.

Measure Salinity in a Saltwater Aquarium using a refractometer.

I have a YouTube channel on saltwater aquarium care called Rotter Tube Reef, which at the time of this writing has over 11,000 YouTube subscribers.

Salinity (salt) is the most fundamental parameter in a saltwater aquarium. Without salinity, it isn’t saltwater. Because salinity is such an important parameter, it is often overlooked.

Salinity is the measure of dissolved salt content in water. Salinity is typically measured in parts per thousand (ppt) or specific gravity (sg). The more salt in your water, the higher your readings will be. Saltwater aquarium salinity is usually kept between 1.020-1.028sg. Some saltwater aquarium keepers like to keep fish only aquariums at lower levels (1.017+) to keep salt costs low.

As a side note, it has been said by some that lower salt levels will kill parasites in your saltwater tank. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE. Only FRESH water will kill saltwater parasites such as ich and marine velvet. Saltwater fish cannot be kept in fresh water for long, but a minute or two is ok.

The lower the salt level in your saltwater tank means there are higher levels of oxygen in your water. The higher the salt level in your saltwater tank means there are lower levels of oxygen in your water.

how to measure salt in saltwater tank with refractometerIf you have a fish only saltwater tank, it is best to keep salinity levels lower, such as at 1.017 or 1.018. You can measure salt levels in your salt water tank using a refractometer.

Many reef aquarium keepers like to maintain salinity at higher levels, sometimes as high as 1.031 because salinity tends to be higher around a reef. A reef has coral and coral thrive with higher salt levels at least 1.028. Choose what is right for your aquarium and make sure it stays stable.

A good refractometer is a precision instrument for measuring salinity. Without getting technical, a refractometer works by measuring how much light “bends” as it passes through the water. As the salinity in the water changes, so does the angle of the refraction, or “bend.” Be sure you are buying a refractometer made for measuring salinity in a saltwater aquarium. Refractometers can be used to measure any number of things, and are calibrated depending on what they were manufactured for.

When you buy a refractometer, and periodically afterwards, you should check the calibration of your instrument. You can use salinity calibration fluid,  or you can use distilled or RO/DI water, which should measure 1.000sg.

how to measure salt in saltwater tank with a refractometer
Salinity measuring just under 1.020

To use a refractometer, place a few drops on the glass plane and then place the clear cover over the sample. Point the refractometer at a bright light source, like your tank. Look through the eyepiece in the back to get the measurement. Your salinity is wherever the colored half of the viewfinder stops.

Salinity is a key parameter to measure for in a saltwater aquarium. Salinity should be one of the first and most frequent tests you do on your saltwater tanks.

Just as water evaporates from the sidewalk after the rain stops, the same goes for your aquarium. Water will evaporate and must be replaced. REPLACE EVAPORATING WATER WITH WATER ONLY! NEVER REPLACE EVAPORATING WATER WITH SALTWATER!

THE ONLY TIME YOU ADD SALT TO YOUR SALTWATER TANK IS WHEN YOU DO A WATER CHANGE AND ARE REMOVING SALTWATER FROM YOUR TANK. If you remove 10 gallons of saltwater, you replace 10 gallons of saltwater.

Water evaporation is only water loss, leaving the salt (a solid) in the tank.

Water evaporation in your saltwater tank results in the salinity level being higher. This makes sense because with less water, there is a higher salt level.

With more fresh water, the salt level is lower, since the salt level is “watered down.”

I replace a gallon of fresh water daily in my 125 gallon saltwater tank due to water evaporation. Some people have purchased auto top off units but I prefer to manually add water daily. It’s no big deal. I add water when I feed the fish each night.

You can purchase this Refractometer and read the Amazon reviews HERE

Call of Duty black ops 4 review

Call of Duty black ops 4 review

Call of duty black ops 4 review. Call of duty black ops 4 is a battle royale game for PS4, Xbox and Pc with a 100 players to play against on those platforms. My favorite place to go in call of duty black ops 4 is nuke town is because of the zombies. I like the zombies because they look cool, better than previous call of duty black ops versions. The graphics and sounds of gameplay are great.

My favorite vehicle to use is the truck because you can carry tons of people in it. What I like about call of duty black ops 4 is the realistic graphics. Fortnite battle royale looks great, but has more of a cartoony look, which is cool. Fortnite does not have trucks in the game to carry your squad, unlike call of duty black ops 4.

Apex is the new battle royale game like Fortnite, and call of duty black ops 4. I think Apex copied call of duty black ops 4 because the weapons look futuristic just like the weapons in Apex. I bought call of duty black ops 4 with a PS4 card via Sony’s playstation store. Here is where you can get Playstation cards.

If you would like to get call of duty ops 4 here is where you can get it.

What are V-bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale for PS4 and Xbox?

What are V-bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale used for in PS4 and Xbox? You may have heard about v-bucks in Fortnite gaming from Epic games but aren’t sure what they are.

Fortnite is a free game to play. Fortnite has cool skins gliders wraps for guns and more. My favorite place to land in Fortnite is sunny steps because sunny steps has cool temples. The battle pass is a free way of getting rewards for doing your challenges and leveling up your character.

If you want to get the battle pass or skins (different costumes or accessories for your Fortnite character) you have to get v-bucks. V-bucks are money that is used in Fortnite’s shop, which is accessible via PS4 and Xbox gamestore within the Fortnite game.

how to buy vbucks for fortnite battle royale

V-bucks is Fortnite currency. Instead of using PS4 or XBOX gift cards to buy items in the Fortnite store, you purchase PS4 or XBOX gift cards to buy Fortnite V-bucks then use the V-bucks to purchase items in the Fortnite store online via the Fortnite game.

You can get v-bucks in the battle pass as well as buying them with real money. There are four different types of packages of v-bucks 1,000 2,800 5,000 and 13,500 v-bucks in diffrent types of packages, how I usually get v-bucks is I use PS4 cards I play on PS4.

Niccolo Paganini facts and caprice no. 5 and no. 24

Niccolo Paganini facts and caprice no. 5 and no. 24

Niccolo Paganini was a renowned Italian composer and violinist of the 19th century. A genius, non-conformist, eccentric, unruly vagabond, he left an irrefutable mark on the history of instrumental music. One cannot go through the history of virtuoso performers without reading about Niccolo Paganini. He was one of the greats and one of my favorite composers! A violinist, guitarist and composer.

Niccolo Paganini was one of the most celebrated and distinguished virtuosos of his time.

Niccolò Paganini; 27 October 1782 – 27 May 1840) was an Italian violinist, violist, guitarist, and composer.Niccolò Paganini (October 27, 1782 – May 27, 1840) left his mark as one of the pillars of modern violin technique. His 24 Caprices for Solo Violin Op. 1 are among the best known of his compositions and have served as an inspiration for many prominent composers.

Plagued throughout life by illnesses, partly from birth and partly due to his extravagant lifestyle, he still became an inspiration and motivation for many composers and musicians, including Johannes Brahms, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Robert Schumann.

The capability to transform his minuses into positives is exemplified in his three-octave finger stretch he played across all four strings on violin. This contributed in giving him a permanent place in the history of 19th century music.

EARLY YEARS

  • Niccolò Paganini was born on 27 October 1782 in Genoa, at that time the capital of the Republic of Genoa. His father, Antonio Paganini, was an unsuccessful commercial broker involved in the shipping business. His mother’s name was Teresa (née Bocciardo) Paganini. Both parents were amateur musicians.

  • Niccolò, born third of his parents’ six children, was baptized on October 28th in Chiesa di San Salvatore in Piazza Sarzano. Among his surviving siblings were Biagio Paganini, Carlo Paganini and Teresa Bonati. Nothing is known about the other two.

  • A musician at the local orchestra quickly recognized Niccolò’s potential and started teaching him mandolin as soon as he was five and half years old. Niccolo’s mother, nurtured her son’s talent as best she could.

  • When Niccolò turned seven, his father started teaching him violin. Since Niccolo’s father was a mandolin player, he did not have much to offer to a genius like Niccolò. He took him to Giovanni Servetto, a violinist at the local orchestra, for further lessons. Very soon, Servetto realized his knowledge of music was not adequate for guiding such an extraordinary boy. He sent Niccolo to Francesco Gnecco, who in turn sent him to his own teacher, Giacomo Costa.

  • In 1793, within a period of six months, Niccolò received thirty lessons from Costa. Pleased with his progress, Costa invited him to play in several churches in Genoa. Niccolo Paganini’s first documented public appearance was at the Church of San Filippo Neri on May 26, 1794.

  • His second public performance was at the collegiate Church of Nostra Signora delleVigne on December 1, 1794 on the occasion of Saint Eligius’s Day. He received his first mention at Avviso, a hand-written journal of the day. He once again appeared at Church of San Filippo Neri in May 1795, receiving special mention in the May 30, 1795 issue of Avviso. It said that “a harmonious concert performed by a pleasant 12-year-old boy, Mr Niccolo Paganini, pupil of Mr. Giacomo Costa, Professor of Violin, concluded with universal admiration and approval”.

  • As his fame began to spread, his father became more and more strict, making him practice up to fifteen hours a day. If Anthony thought he had not practiced hard enough, he would make him practice more, withholding food. Niccolo withstood great physical and mental abuse from his father.

  • By early 1795, Niccolò Paganini had established himself as a renowned musician in his native city, generally playing his own compositions at the concerts. The musicians there had nothing else to teach him. Realizing this, his father decided to take him to Parma to study with Allessandro Rolla.

  • To go and stay at Parma, one needed money and the family had none. So Anthony had him practice more so that he could raise enough money at the benefit concert to be held at Teatro di Sant ‘Agostino on July 1795. The concert was a success, enabling father and son to leave for Parma in 1796.

  • On reaching Rolla’s home in Parma, they found the master sick in bed. Niccolò Paganini noticed Rolla’s violin and a composition lying nearby. Taking up the violin he began to play it. Rolla was overwhelmed by his performance and told the teenager he had nothing to offer. He suggested Paganini study composition with Ferdinando Paer and counterpoint with Gasparo Ghiretti.
  • For around six months, Paganini studied with Paer and Ghiretti. While he composed twenty-four figures for four hands, he composed a huge quantity of instrumental music. He gave a number of concerts, both at Parma and Colorno, earning fame and money.

niccolo paganini violin virtuoso and guitar virtuoso caprice no. 24 and no. 5

EARLY CAREER

  • The Paganini family returned to Genoa in late 1796. The city was under French control so his family moved to Romairone. Paganini was forced to spend quiet time, composing music and performing at local churches. Niccolo Paganini’s musical pieces were so difficult that only he could play them.

  • In 1796, Niccolo Paganini started spending more time with guitar; preferring to play the instrument in close quarters rather than in public concerts. In 1797, Paganini went on his first tour, giving around a dozen concerts at Milan, Bogona, Florence, Pisa and Leghorn.

  • In spite of his success, his father continued to control his life with an iron hand, making him practice his own compositions, often ten hours a day. Breaking free from his father, 1801, Niccolo visited Lucca, with his elder brother Carlo

  • In Lucca, he played at the Festival of Santa Croce, on September 14, 1801. He now settled down in Lucca, being appointed first violin of the Republic of Lucca in the following year.

  • Niccolo Paganini continued to compose; starting his work on ‘24 Caprices for Solo Violin’ sometime in 1802. Being away from parental scrutiny, he developed many vices such as gambling, drinking and womanizing.

  • In 1805, Napoleon’s sister, Maria Anna Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi Levoy, became the Princess of Lucca. In the same year, she appointed Paganini as the Second Court violinist and also the violin tutor to her husband Felice Pasquale Baciocchi Levoy.

  • While under the employment of the Princess of Lucca, he composed a significant amount of chamber music. Most notable among them were his sonatas, especially the Napoleon Sonata. Apart from that, he composed quarters for strings and guitars. ‘Duetto Amoroso’ was another important work of this period.

INTERNATIONAL FAME

  • Towards the end of 1809, after a tiff with the Grand Duchess, Niccolo Paganini left Florence to embark on a freelance career. He traveled around Genoa and Parma, recognized as a virtuoso by the local audience. He remained unknown elsewhere.

  • His first big break came on October 29, 1813. He gave his first recital at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. It was huge success, attracting the attention of prominent musicians in Europe. Within a period of ten weeks, he gave six more concerts at the same auditorium.

  • Niccolo Paganini was soon considered the foremost violinist in Europe, giving more than a hundred concerts in different Italian cities like Genoa, Parma, Florence, Turin, Naples, Bologna, Venice and Rome. This was also the period he incurred different diseases due to his undisciplined life. He was very ill.

  • In 1828, Paganini first went on an all-Europe tour. Starting with 14 concerts in Vienna, he stopped at every important city in Germany, Poland and Bohemia, finally settling down in Strasbourg, where he remained until 1831. His success led to a formation of a cult, where everything was ‘a la Paganini’.

  • In 1832, he visited Great Britain, touring England and Scotland, earning huge amounts of money. In 1833, he settled in Paris, remaining there until September 1834. During this period he started suffering from different ailments, leading to frequent cancellation of concerts, hurting his career.

  • In September 1834, he returned to Genoa, where he started work on publishing his compositions. He also appeared in a number of concerts, playing for the first time at Teatro Carlo Felice on November 30, 1834. It was a tremendous.

Paganini remained in Genoa until 1836, thereafter moving to Paris to set up a casino. It was an immediate failure, forcing him to auction even his musical instruments. In December 1838, he left Paris to spend his last years in Nice.

PERSONAL LIFE

  • It is believed that Niccolo Paganini suffered from genetic disorders like Marfan or Ehlers–Danlos syndrome. His appearance, along with expertise in music, gave rise to the rumor he was associated with the devil and could play so well only because he had a pact with him.

  • Although Niccolo Paganini never married, he had number of love affairs. Among them, his affair with Angiolina Cavanna, produced a stillborn daughter.

  • Paganini also had a long lasting live-in relationship with dancer Antonia Bianchi. The two met in Milan in 1813, living together until he went on his European tour in 1828.

  • Paganini and Bianchi’s only child, a son named Achilles Cyrus Alexander, was born out of wedlock on July 23, 1825 in Palermo. Paganini had a close relationship with his son, taking him on his European tours and leaving him as his main heir.

  • From childhood, Paganini suffered from chronic illness, which was aggravated by his early practice schedule, frequent concerts and undisciplined lifestyle. As early as 1822, he was inflicted with syphilis. In 1834, he was afflicted with tuberculosis, losing his voice in 1838.

  • In 1838, Paganini moved to Nice, where his condition further deteriorated. On May 20, 1840, the Bishop of Nice sent the local parish priest to perform the sacrament. Believing he would live, Paganini refused it. But he died suddenly from internal hemorrhaging on 27 May 1840 without receiving the last rites.

  • After his death, the Church denied his body a Catholic burial in Genoa because of his refusal to accept the sacrament and his alleged association with devil. After repeated requests by his son, Niccolo Paganini’s remains were transported to Genoa four years later, without burial.

  • In 1876, his body was finally laid to rest in Parma. A monument was later built for him there.

Niccolo Paganini is best remembered for his ‘24 Caprices for Solo Violin Op 1’, which he wrote in three groups, between 1802 and 1817. They are in the form of études, with each number exploring a single facet of technique. Commissioned by the City of Genoa, the work was first published in 1982 on the occasion of his bicentenary.

1. In the Footsteps of his Father

While Niccolò Paganini’s father – Antonio Paganini – was not successful as a merchant, he was quite the mandolin player. In fact, he managed to supplement his household income by playing the instrument at local salons. That’s how Niccolò picked up the trade, starting off with mandolin and quickly switching to his favorite, the violin by age 7. Niccolò’s prowess as a budding violinist was so alluring that he garnered several different scholarships for violin lessons.

2. Debut at a Tender Age of 9

At the age of 9, Niccolò Paganini made his debut in the world of violin. The genius wowed an enthusiastic audience with his own version of La Carmagnole. The composer de-shackled himself from his strict father at the age of 14!

3. Guitar: His “Constant Companion”

After the French attacked his town Genoa, the Paganini family fled to Romairone where Niccolò became fond of the guitar. While he later described it as his go-to “companion” on tour, he preferred to play the guitar in private concerts. It’s no wonder he isn’t known well for being a guitarist.

4. The Dark Side of Niccolò

His reputation as violin virtuoso was rivaled only by his fame as a womanizer and ardent gambler. Apparently, Niccolò gambled so much that it wiped almost all his fortune. His gambling habits ruined him financially and was too broke to buy a violin!

5. Son of the Devil?

Niccolò Paganini, now thought by most people to be the greatest violin prodigy ever to live, was so remarkably good that many thought he’d traded his soul for the talent. RIDICULOUS! In fact, some people went ahead to christen him “the Son of the Devil!” But that wasn’t all. At one time, Niccolò was forced to publish his mother’s letters to prove that he was indeed human. It couldn’t possibly be that he had natural talent, given by God, which he practiced 15 hours a day! See how people are?!

6. Paganini’s Caprice. 24: Not for Everyone

Widely considered one of the most popular pieces of violin compositions, Caprice No. 24 is Paganini’s final caprice of his 24 Caprices. It comprises a fantastic theme, often played in A minor, and comes with eleven variations as well as a finale. It’s not surprising that the solo violin work is considered one of the most difficult in history. Unless you’ve mastered high-level violin techniques like rapid shifting, parallel octaves, arpeggios, and incredibly fast scales, Caprice No. 24 is not for you.

7. Marfan Syndrome: A Big Plus?

It was thought that the devil’s violinist, Paganini, suffered from a strange disorder, the Marfan Syndrome. True or not, Paganini had incredibly strong and long fingers that explained why he was extraordinarily agile and good at playing the violin. Rumor has it the musician could bend his finger at 90 degrees to the rest of his hand. Apparently, he snapped a saucer in half once using only his forefinger and thumb.

8. Paganini’s Character: A Darling of the Film Industry

The tumultuous lifestyle, prowess as a violin virtuoso, and mystery surrounding his life have made Paganini a film producer’s favorite. He has been portrayed by a slew of top-notch actors in the movie and TV productions. The most prominent ones include Roxy Roth in A Song to Remember; Stewart Granger in The Magic Bow – a 1946 biographical documentary about Paganini; David Garrett in The Devil’s Violinist, a 2013 biography; and, Klaus Kinski in Kinski Paganini, a 1989 film. Then of course there is the popular film, Crossroads, starring Steve Vai and Ralph Macchio. The end of the film features a guitar duel where Ralph Macchio performs Niccolo Paganini’s caprice no. 5.

Shure mv88 microphone review. Iphone microphone for YouTube vlogging

Shure mv88 microphone review. Iphone microphone for YouTube vlogging

A great microphone for YouTube videos or vlogging videos. I highly recommend the Shure mv88 microphone. More YouTubers and vloggers are turning to their iPhones and iPads for filming YouTube videos. This is the microphone you need for pro audio.

Sound quality will make or break your videos.

I purchased a Shure mv88 microphone to review awhile ago. This iPhone microphone worked really well for filming via my iPhone for YouTube vlogs, musicians, meetings or interviews on my YouTube channels. Using the built-in iPhone microphone is ok for basic videos but for YouTube vlogs or pro videos, you want the best sound you can get.

The Shure MV88 microphone is a great tool for your iPhone whether you are recording a musician, yourself vlogging, a small conference, or anything similar and it’s small enough to carry with you easily.

The Shure mv88 microphone can rotate, allowing you to capture sound from any angle.

The Shure MV88 is a small, stereo, condenser microphone that attaches to iOS devices, including iPads, via a lightning connector that is designed for portable recording. The Shure MV88 records interviews, podcasts and music no problem.

It requires the free Shure MOTIV iOS app, downloadable from the app store, which allows control of gain, EQ, and stereo width, along with 5 DPS presets to configure the mic for various recording sessions. Lots of cool options for any audio recording session.

Shure was founded in 1925 as a radio parts wholesaler and has become a global leader in audio electronics; especially in designing mics for music.

shure mv88 iphone microphone review with motiv appThe MOTIV application allows you to configure the microphone, starting with setting the Gain (recording level) of the mic. Setting the Stereo width allows you to “focus” the mic into a specific area.

For example, narrowing the focus allows you to minimize echoes, while expanding the width improves the pickup of room reverberation (think trumpets in a cathedral).

The five icons near the top are the five DSP presets, allowing you to configure the mic for speech, singing, flat (meaning all EQ, limiter and compressor settings are turned off), acoustic music or loud music.

The MV88 software includes a built-in limiter and compressor, along with wind reduction (a low-cut filter) and the ability to swap the left and right channels to match what’s happening on-screen.

The Shure mv88 is small enough where you can carry it easily without burden. The sound from this Shure microphone is very pronounced, full and crisp, as with all microphones by Shure.

I use Shure microphones for the most part, in my recording studio.

I love this iPhone microphone by Shure. It’s another home run in microphone quality, providing rich, powerful, crisp audio. I highly recommend it.
